I'll cross 1 million reads on Wattpad this week, for The Storm Dragon's Heart. Which is awesome. Love Wattpad. But to have 19 million reads on fewer chapters ... That's darned impressive.

Another woman who goes by Britthebookslayer got a three book deal off her wattpad book, "What the Spell." That's the only other one I know, though there may have been more.

I love that site, it's lots of fun.

Rather impressive.  Something to remember when struggling to make any kind of impression on wattpad.  Most languish in anonymity on there, amongst all the fanfic.
Dead Man's Drop (Noir Dark Fantasy) Rewrite: 100%

Echo of the Ages Book 1 Rewrite: 7%

Unnamed Echo of the Ages Standalone First Draft: 50%

Perhaps you should be more positive.

You wrote: Most languish in anonymity on there, amongst all the fanfic.

In the other thread also you wrote:  It's hard to get noticed.

Let me know if this seems out of turn.

However, whatever you believe in will manifest in your life. So if you keep believing 'I could never get noticed. This could never happen to me.' Then it won't.

On the other hand, you could figure out WHAT led to people being noticed and do those same things.

on the other thread the writer has very helpfully mentioned what worked for him. Why not try that instead of thinking 'it could not happen for you'.

From what I read on the Wattpad forums, the best way to get noticed is to be sociable and active on the website such as reading other people's stories and commenting on them, and being active in the forums.

I've never participated in the forums, so it's not essential. But I do interact with my readers and fans as much as I reasonably can.

Another wattpad success story is Abigail Gibbs, who went by the user name Canse12. She  recently secured a six figure sum with HarperCollins for her vampire novel 'The Dark Heroine.'

I believe she began writing the book when she was only fourteen!

I'm just getting started again on Wattpad ( http://www.wattpad.com/user/cekilgore ) after a stuttering trial last year, pulling my stories due to the KDP content allowance confusion (which I now have in writing from KDP as being allowed to post 20% of a manuscript that is part of KDP)

Wattpad reminds me of a really beefed-up fanfiction.net, but I see a larger number of original works (which is fantastic). It seems to really encourage the younger folks to write and participate. I think the crowd on Wattpad is mainly younger folks, so we will see how my more adult-geared sci-fi works out there.

I just joined wattpad on June 22 and have had 1,000 hits and I'm sitting at #7 in historical fiction and absolutely no idea how it works but I don't mind the fact I'm getting the word out. If book deals are part of the equation then I'm fine with that.

Good for her! I love Wattpad, although I have nowhere near her number of reads. I have definitely gained new fans over there who've gone on to buy my other books.

Is that KDP in general or KDP Select specifically? If the first, then: bummer. But if the second, I can see that as reasonable if it's in the contract somewhere.

That would be KDP Select.

You know, I've never really looked much at Wattpad.  But how cool that it led to a book deal for this gal!

Wish I could do that too, but alas, erotic romances don't fare well on a site primarily targetted at teens :P all my content gets put on 'locked'.
