What a rush! Of course, I am not Holly at the very top spot, but this had me very happy!! Okay, here's the story:

I got a Bookbub ad for The Gauguin Connection (first in the series) for the 17th. For the same day I also got a KB featured book ad for the same book. I then decided to not only change the price for Gauguin to $0.99, but also for The Dante Connection (second in the series), hoping for some cross-over sales. I did that first on D2D on the 13th and Amazon on the 14th. On Monday Kobo still hadn't changed the prices, but D2D's fabulous customer service quickly sorted that out for me.

And then on Monday I got an email from ENT that they were going to place The Dante Connection on the 17th as a bargain book. Firstly, I don't remember requesting from them an ad for Dante - it's only been published a month and only has 5 reviews. But hey, I was NOT going to complain. That meant possible cross-over sales from Dante to Gauguin. Yay!!

Needless to say, yesterday I had quite a few open tabs and refreshed non-stop. The sales for Gauguin started pouring in just after the Bookbub ad went live and soon for Dante when ENT put it up. The results 24 hours later:

Gauguin
Amazon: 847
iTunes: 119
B&N : 415
Kobo: 7

Total: 1388.
  Dante:
Amazon: 417
iTunes: 2
B&N: 21
Kobo: 0

Total: 440

Grand Total sales: 1828

It doesn't quite cover the price of the ads, but I know that more sales will still come in because of this. I'm keeping the discounted price for another two days, hoping for a wee bit more momentum. Of course, now it is impossible to say that the Dante sales only came from ENT and the Gauguin sales only from Bookbub - too many cross-overs.

What I will change next time:
On Amazon in the Author's note for both books (in bold and CAPS) I put that the other book is also on sale. I didn't do this in the product description on the other platforms. Next time I'll do that. As you can see, the numbers for Dante is only good on Amazon - where ENT's ad sent the readers. I might have had a few more Dante sales from the Bookbub ad on the other platforms if people had known the other book in the series is also on sale.

But... for a short while The Gauguin Connection is #3 and The Dante Connection #4 on Amazon's crime category! I'm a bestselling author!!!!!!!!!  :D :D :D

Fantastic! I bet you're over the moon, Estelle.  :D

Thanks for giving us the marketing break-down, these things are always a helpful addition to know how you managed it. Lets hope the sales continue to come in now you've got more exposure.

Hey, I'd been eyeing it for a while now, so when I saw it on sale I figured I had no excuse!

Here's to hoping your ranking got pushed up high enough you'll get tons of sales at full price!

Thanks, Amanda! I'm really thrilled with these results and also hope that it will hold on to some of the momentum. I'm very curious to see how fast/slow the slide down will be.
