Thanks, TellNotShow, that's what I wanted to know, whether the pricing info was still correct.
Blessings,

Just received an email from Google stating that I had to update all my information including my bank info. That was a surprise because of the email notification, and second because before, every month they held my payment and never notified me. This situation used to occur every other month in 2015. I went almost a year and received my payments like clockwork without contacting them to find out why Google hadn't deposited my payment.
All good things do come to an end.

Hi Ethan. The prices have all worked for me. However, given that Mercia has said...
This is a very old thread. I use proxies to test the prices in different currencies and do not find the OP figures work. Use them. Test them. Fine tune them.
... I will add that she is offering sound advice. I'm in Australia, and I too have used proxy servers to check my prices in different countries. However, I only put USD (and occasionally AUD) prices on my books, and was happy to allow Google Play to convert USDollars to all other local currencies and have some slightly odd prices in those places. So if prices ending in .99 in all countries are important to you, well, you have work to do.
For instance, having checked just now on my proxy, I find that everything's still working correctly to arrive at a range of prices in the US ($2.99, $3.99, $4.99, $9.99).

The biggest problem I find with pricing, is Amazon price matching in Australia. For your books that are USD2.99 in the US, you need to price those at AUD3.99 in Australia to get 70% from Amazon. To get GP price to be AUD3.99 in Australia, use AUD6.16. They discount it to AUD3.99, and you get a great royalty rate, and no Amazon price match problems.

Using USD2.99 as an example: In the UK, my USD2.99 books are currently selling at around 2.49 on GP. Because I just allowed GP to convert USDollars, they're an odd price. If I'd bothered converting them properly, I'd have used 1.99 there. But I still sell okay around GBP2.49, and earn more for those sales. I suspect I'd sell a few more if I went lower, or a few less higher, but I'm happy enough not to change it.

So, short answer, Mercia's right. You should always check using a proxy server if possible. If that's not possible, use USDollars and trust the chart, mostly. But check anyway. And know that your prices mostly won't end in .99 other places.

Sorry to have let you think it was all so simple. (Although it IS simple, and the prices in the OP accurate, if you only care about the US store.) I hope this helps.

If you don't have access to a proxy server, you can use this basic one for free. https://www.vpnbook.com/webproxy
You can set it for US, UK or Canada.
There are other options on that site to use proxies in other countries, but they take more fiddling about.

I got same message earlier this year. I have completely ignored it as I thought it is just another spam asking for bank account and login information. When I realized that no monthly payment arrived, I updated the bank information directly in the Google publishing platform. I have no idea why they were asking. At least they just send the pending balance next month without any additional effort from my side.

Guys, I'm at a loss.  I get a few sales trickling in at Google Play on a consistent basis.  It's enough for me to see a pattern - I sell X copies of my first book and Y copies of my other books each day.  Yet every time I set my first book to free, the sales of my other books stop completely.  It's happened multiple times now, so I'm positive it isn't my imagination.  Has anyone else experienced what I'm talking about?  What's going on?!

I know this is an old post, but thanks for taking the time to post this, TK.

I've been considering whether to go the GP route or not, given the pricing issue. Finding this mega-post, I may now actually look into this further.

Thanks!

Are GP allowing new accounts again now?

Nope. They're still locked down. But if you signed up before then removed all your books (like me), you can still sign in and upload new ones.

To the OP: Hi, I started on Google Play after seeing your original post in 2013. My initial sales were pretty good, but in the last 1-2 years, they have fallen dramatically, by around 80%. If you're still around, do you mind telling me if your sales still remain at those high levels that you initially reported?

As far as I know Google Play has something like 2% of market share, with Amazon having nearly 80%.

It took a bit of searching on here to find this again, but I'm so glad I did. Thanks for all this info.  Will try proxies and see if it works the same way still.
