Sharing apps on two Fires?
« on: December 27, 2013, 04:33:22 PM »
My girls now both have a Kindle Fire and they've been sharing apps. At least, Abby received her Fire on Christmas and has been downloading Emily's apps from the Cloud. However, they both chipped in together to buy a $4 app on Emily's Fire and Abby can't find it in the Cloud so she can download it. I went to 'Manage my apps' and I don't see the option to send the app to Abby's Fire. Advice?

If it's not a Fire HDX, I don't believe you can push apps, even from Manage Your Apps.

I'm assuming from your first sentence that they are on the same account.  Sometimes apps take a while to sync across devices.  I would sync the device and then wait a bit.

Usually it would take a few minutes after synching for it to show up in my account on my Fire HD.

If that doesn't work, try restarting the device and then sync again.

If that doesn't work, you may need to call Kindle CS

Never mind. The wonderful people at Amazon walked me through it in chat. For reference, should anyone else have this issue, simply select 'settings' on your Kindle Fire, and click 'sync'. The missing content will now be in the Cloud and ready for download.  :)

Whew!  Glad I gave the same answer they did. :D

There is a lag sometimes, I've found, before the apps will appear.  I usually did something else on the Fire for about five minutes and then checked.

It did appear in the Cloud immediately after syncing. I'm relieved. They both received their own $25 gift card from Santa, and since their taste in apps are identical, they realized they can pool their money together, share the apps, and get twice the content. Happy girls!
