It's a mystery- Something is wrong. As Lance Underphal pads softly across the cold flagstone, he hears her weeping. She is on her knees, hunched over in the middle of the room, her back to him, facing the dark fireplace. Something is very wrong. Lance wants to rush to her, but can't. In a hoarse whisper, he says, "Callie?" She lets out a mournful wail from deep within as she turns, their infant son in her arms, blue and still. He reels from the blow. How can this be? They don't have a son.

Jupin' Jiminey! The NY Times has a FAIR article about Amazon!

My favorite quote is this:
Lets be honest here: The intelligentsia is focused on Amazon not because it sells pinto beans or toilets, but because it sells books. Thats their business. Amazon is changing the book industry in ways that threaten to diminish the role of publishers and traditional ways of publishing. Its battle with Hachette is a battle over control. Its not terribly different from the forces that ultimately disintermediated the music business.

The NY Times columnist is a TP published author and states so.

Yeah, I caught that editorial this morning, too. Glad you posted it, Desmond.
This isn't the first piece the NYT has run on the current media swirl around Amazon/Hachette...but it is the first, to my knowledge, that doesn't pose it mainly from the POV of a highly successful, trad published author.

Ironic that the fair, unbiased article is an opinion column, unlike the severely slanted reporting in the news articles.
