B&N Sales Reporting Issues
« on: February 13, 2015, 09:37:23 AM »
I just got this email from D2D:

Quote
You may have noticed that we haven't been reporting daily sales numbers for Barnes & Noble this week. We noticed the problem first thing Monday and immediately contacted Barnes & Noble. Were sorry that were just now letting you know, but each day they have informed us the issue would be resolved today. Unfortunately, this has not happened.

First, were sorry that we werent faster to communicate the issue, but we were optimistic it would be sorted out with only a minor hiccup. Second, we want to assure you that the rest of your sales data is being reported on time and accurately. Only Barnes & Noble is affected. Third, as soon as we work out the issue with Barnes & Noble, we will get the sales information to you as quickly as we can. Last, you can rest assured that we will take steps to stop the issue from occurring again and to make our communication quicker if it does.

So please bear with us as we bear with one of our partners while they work out an issue. We will keep you informed about the issue going forward. Thank you for your patience and we appreciate our continued partnership with you.

Sincerely,

The Draft2Digital Team

So, B&N didn't just decide to bury my books this week like I feared, there's still hope!

:o Wow, thanks for posting this. I thought I'd hit some sort of wall with B&N!
I didn't get a letter from D2D but I'm much relieved now.
(I STILL wish D2D would report on B&N freebie downloads. Smashwords does, so the numbers are available.)

On D2D? Because I've never seen one. I've had sales from later books in the series on Kobo, but they've never reported downloads of my permafree. Maybe I'm in a special doofuses category. ;D

Yup, they do. You just look at the menu to the left where you can specify by title and channel and paid vs free.

I can't for the life of me get it to show even a single freebie download from Kobo, yet iTunes shows 529 downloads on the same title.

So weird.

I wish they did, but they don't, Patty. They only report freebie downloads for Apple and Page Foundry. I've never had any reported for B&N even though my permafree books are ranked pretty high there.

Same here.

I'm glad it's not just me. If it reports them I can't get them to show up no matter how I toggle the doohickeys and whatzits.

KWL reports the freebies in the bottom right field on the dashboard. To know how many per title, you select a title in the field at the top.

Sigh. I can't for the life of me get D2D to show the number of freebies downloaded from Kobo. It keeps slapping my hand and yelling, "NO!"

I need some cake.

No. Kobo doesn't report freebies to aggregators. I mean KWL, the direct platform. D2D does report freebies from B&N and Apple.

We started getting some numbers in from B&N in the last hour so hopefully we'll be able to update our charts soon.  We currently get reports on Free downloads from Apple and PF. We are adding B&N free download reporting and we should finish that by early March.  Kobo currently does not report free downloads to distributors but we continue to ask them for this information.

Thanks, Dan! That's great news. I've been more than a little curious about those B&N free downloads!
