I know most of us have been focused on Christine's fight, but Rachel Ann Nunes also deserves kudos and the results deserve publicity. It sets a great precedent in my non-lawyer opinion. Spread the word!

Thank you so much for sharing this, David! This is a good outcome for all authors.

I am very happy for her. While she unfortunately won't see a cent, at least her lawyer will be compensated something for 4 years of work, and the plagiarizer will have to pay it. And there's the letter, which I would frame and hang on my wall were I in her shoes. That's a win.

Wow. Good for Rachel, and I hope Christine can get that clear of an apology.

I'm so glad for her! This has been a hard fight, and it took a long time to get here. The financial and emotional toll had to have been overwhelming at times.

Thanks! I had donated way back when.

Oh and that public apology was satisfying to read. I hope we see more of those from other cases.

I hope the letter gets out and helps deter people from doing the sock puppet attacks on authors. But the thing is, I always thought when this was going on, isn't it easier to just write your own book? But then, people are weird. It's nice to see this as a lesson and precedence for people in the future not to do any of this. And I'm so glad she won her case. Crossing fingers for Christine now.

I admit I haven't been following this case very closely, but I found it interesting that Rachel and her 'team' had input to the content of the apology letter.  Obviously it makes perfect sense to do it that way (otherwise the 'apology' would have been worthless), but I had just never thought about it before.  (Sort of reminds me of that court-ordered statement from Big Tobacco that airs on TV now & then.)
