All Books Cancelled

Yesterday my friend was reading my Kindle and got a message saying ALL BOOKS CANCELLED 20121103371605.  What is this?  Has anyone else experienced this?

Best option is probably to contact Amazon -- Kindle customer service. Sorry I can't be more help. :(

Thanks, Ann.  I have done this and will call when my friend brings my Kindle after work so we can troubleshoot.  I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this.

It's a new one on me.

You can try all the usual stuff first, of course.

Do a restart
De-register and re-register
Toggle WiFi off and then On

Last resort is a reset which will remove all content and any personalization, so I don't recommend that until you've talked to Kindle CS.

And . . . I don't know if it's a good or bad thing . . . but when I google the phrase "ALL BOOKS CANCELLED 20121103371605" I get nothing. Even if adding "Kindle message". Without the numbers it's just info about how to cancel the Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Ann, just to let you know, needed updating.  We thought with 3G it would update automatically but needed WiFi or computer download.  All fixed now.

Interesting. Is this a older kindle and is this the message folks get now with those updates that had to be done on the older ones?

Glad it got fixed, but if it was because of that urgent update they kept warning everyone about, I expect a few more confused readers with such a odd sounding message.

Oh! That's right! They updated the wireless protocol as of the end of March or so and if you didn't get the necessary update then the wireless was going to stop working.

At least now if others have a similar question, we'll know the answer! :D

The more recent devices that are 3G/wifi will NOT automatically update over the 3G.  You must do it via wifi or download.  The only ones that will update over 3G are the early models where that was the only choice (K1, K2, K3, DX).

Buy Scrivener for Windows or Mac
