Does anyone know . . .
« on: August 19, 2016, 06:14:18 AM »
I have a Kindle Fire, and the speakers have suddenly stopped working.  The sound works if there are head jacks plugged in, but not the system speakers.
Things I've tried:
  • holding the power button for 25 sec. for reset
  • checked the quiet time to make sure that was turned off.
  • checking the sound notifications to make sure nothing was turned off ther
Any other suggestions?

Depending on the model, there may be buttons on the side or top where you can adjust the volume. . . . you don't say, but I'm guessing you have played with them to make sure it's turned all the way up.

I can't think of anything else except a call to Kindle Customer Support.

Yup! :(  Tried that.  The volume does work and is adjustable with head jacks . . . When you take the jacks out, the speakers should be at the same level.  But no sound is coming from them.  Just wondering if there was another place I could check.  Thank you!

I'm not sure which Fire you have and since you say they suddenly stopped working I'm guessing this isn't the problem but on my Fire (7" $49) the volume controls for the speakers and the headphone jack are separate.
