The Dark Tower series vs the movie
« on: September 20, 2016, 02:29:13 PM »
Hey All,
I've started reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series in preparation for the movie coming out next year (Feb 2017). Has anyone heard how much of the books the movie will span? The first book? 1 through 4? All?
I'm trying to judge how far I need to read before I see the movie. I'd search the internet, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers for the book. :-) I'm just finishing up book 1.

I would just read the books first and enjoy them. They are great fun!

You can then enjoy the movie as something else entirely.

However, from what I understand (and this may be incorrect) the movie may draw from multiple books. Here's a link from EW.com (warning: there may be potential spoilers here!): http://www.ew.com/article/2016/07/19/dark-tower-movie-books

For more fun, you can also read about how The Dark Tower series ties into King's other works at http://stephenking.com/darktower/connections/.

Thanks, Joseph!
I'll definitely read the whole series, but I tend to take my time when reading. I just don't want to see the movie and potentially spoil something I haven't read in the books yet.
