Release Date . . . Do you have a preference?
« on: May 23, 2018, 10:47:17 AM »
I know most TP release books on a Tuesday, I am wondering what Indies are doing.
Do you have a day that you think works better than others?
(I'm trying to decide on one right now and thought I would see what everyone else is doing.)

When the book is ready!

LOL  That's what I thought, too.

Thursdays have always done well for me with social media promos.  I don't know if it's the same for releases.

This is an interesting question that I haven't considered before. I had assumed in the digital world time/date is relative and so release date wouldn't matter much, but maybe that's incorrect.

I guess I could see more customers finding time to browse for their next ebook purchase on weekends. Would Thursday or Friday then make sense as a release date? Does a particular date in a given month make a difference as well? I know time of year is also a factor when launching.

Great question, OP! I'm looking forward to the responses.  8)

When the book is ready!

That is always what I have done in the past!
I am going to offer a pre-order on this bad boy which is why I ask.  8)

I wouldn't look at the day of the week, I'd look at how the theme of your book connects best with your readers, and when they are most likely to pick it up. In that instance you might want to look at releasing it around a specific holiday in the year, or an event that takes place.
