It's a mystery- Something is wrong. As Lance Underphal pads softly across the cold flagstone, he hears her weeping. She is on her knees, hunched over in the middle of the room, her back to him, facing the dark fireplace. Something is very wrong. Lance wants to rush to her, but can't. In a hoarse whisper, he says, "Callie?" She lets out a mournful wail from deep within as she turns, their infant son in her arms, blue and still. He reels from the blow. How can this be? They don't have a son.

Looking for recommendations.

I am almost finished with my latest read and I have been looking at Neal Stephenson books and want to get a recommendation for a first book of his to read. I haven't read anything by Stephenson but he seems to be a cross between William Gibson and Neil Gaiman in a way, both of whom I enjoy the few books of theirs I have read.

Anthem looks interesting, as does Seveneves and Cryptonomicon.

Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Cryptonomicon can be considered a classic. A must read for any science fiction fan.

The first Stephenson book I read was Snow Crash. It was recommended to me by a friend and I really enjoyed it. Best name for a hero, EVER!

Not to be confused with the Discworld's Necrotelicomnicon. ;)
