Young Adult Fans: What is hot in YA right now?
« on: February 08, 2017, 12:26:52 PM »
I used to go through 2 YA novels a week when I was younger... I'm just now getting back to a point in my life where I might be able to sit down and read again, so I ask you: what is hot in Young Adult right now? I'm more of a Twilight, Blood & Chocolate, Hush Hush kind of girl versus a Divergent, worlds end, sci fi girl. I do not like dark or horror.

I'd recommend these for you:

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios

Splintered by AG Howard

Tiger Lily By Jodi Lynn Anderson

Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini

I could go on... haha. Hope you find a good new series!

If you haven't read the Lunar Chronicles, they were pretty hot with adults and YA recently. I loved the mash up of fairy tales, science fiction, and a little steampunk.

In terms of smaller presses, I really liked I Heart Robot. There were a few surprises for sure.

In NA, I really enjoyed the Newsflesh series, especially book one. Super well researched.

Thanks for reading!

I also recommend Heartless from the same author, Marissa Meyer.
Based on your preferences, you might also like Kiera Cass's Selection series or Leigh Bardugo's Grisha and Six of Crows series.
