Anyone else get the email about errors in AMS billing?
« on: February 18, 2017, 10:27:30 AM »
This morning I woke up to this email:

Quote
Due to an error in our billing system (which has been corrected), we are issuing a refund to your credit card for inaccurate charges. You will see the refund on your credit card statement within 1-2 weeks, and may see multiple refunds, depending on the size of the total refund issued. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for continuing to run ads with AMS

Huh? First, I don't like that they don't actually tell me what the error is... Second, I have no idea how to go into my account and check on things. I don't really even know the specifics of what this means. Anyone else get this?

This is what is posted at the top of the AMS page:

Billing Data Incorrect in Billing Statements (1/31/17 to 2/14/17)
Billing for campaigns that ran between 1/31/17 to 2/14/17 may be inaccurate.  If you are a Vendor, your billing related issues have been resolved and you have received click credits for any excess charges. If you are a Kindle Direct Publishing Author, we have resolved the issue and are processing adjustments to the bills of impacted accounts. These adjustments may take up to 1-2 weeks to process. Your data on impressions, clicks, sales and spend is correct and no information has been lost. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I love the "all of your data is correct except the billing". Anyone interested in buying some swampland?

Right? And how can we even figure out how much we were overcharged?

I got the email. My reaction was: "Huh, I was perfectly happy with what I'd already paid for the ad results I had and now you're telling me I'm going to get some of that money back?  Awesome."

With Amazon I take the "it's probably not accurate but am I pleased with the results?" approach rather than give myself a stress attack every time we find out that something's off with their processes or reports.

I think I'll do the same! Good approach :)

Last month I found that Amazon was charging my credit card in the Billing History tab more than what I'd spent in the Spend column.

This month it's just the opposite, Amazon is charging my credit card less than what I spent in the Spend column.

I figure whichever number is higher, that's the one that's correct.

It's always nice to actually get paid instead of charged.  :D
