Reader Links Software - Book Report competition?
« on: March 06, 2017, 05:11:36 AM »
Hey guys, this looks really interesting. Take Book Report and add all sorts of extras like link tracking, tweeting, promotions tracking, and graphs. It is making me consider jumping ship from Book Report when it goes live.

Hi all. I'm Ben, one of the producers on ReaderLinks. I can answer any questions you have about the service. In a nutshell, we want to give you a suite of tools that let you track your publishing/marketing efforts and see your results quickly.

We're rolling out with tools for ARC/Reader Team management, scheduled tweets, overall & per-book calendars, sales tracking and link management (including tracking), promo tracking and task lists. We have plans for more, too. We're all ears when it comes to what you hate about the tools you use. We're authors too so we share the pain!

Hopefully ReaderLinks will ease the biz grind a bit.

Thanks for chiming in. As feedback I'll tell you why I do NOT use Booktrkr, but WOULD use something like it if you built it. Booktrkr covers all vendors and I want that. Your program has lots of little extras, and I want those too. Book Report just makes Amazon easy to read at a glance, so it's third choice of those three tools.

WHY then do I use Book Report and NOT Booktrkr? Because of paranoid security fears. If you could build Booktrkr and add your tools, BUT make it a program than ran ON MY PC and not in  a browser or on a third party website (where my passwords have to be given) I'd bite your arm off! I'd pay serious money for a program like that (and charge it to my taxes of course)

That's an interesting idea. Booktrakr is an excellent service but yeah that makes me a little uneasy on the security front too. We've batted around ideas re: tracking other services so it's on our radar (in fact, we discussed it this morning) but the local app angle is cool.

When someone asks me for a password that provides them with my bank account information, not to mention the ability to change that bank account information, then running away is not paranoia, it's common sense.

"One tool to rule them all." :)

Say, Ben / AuthorHelper, if you're around: I'm going wide with all my pen names. Any plans to expand your Tool to include other storefronts?

I'm happy to say Amazon isn't my whole world anymore. Everything you're doing looks great. I want something that functions for my entire empire, not one store. Pretty please.

Hi Viv

Yup, we have more than Amazon on our mind. We're not sure how to tackle it yet, but we want to at least give you the option to manually enter/import your data as often as you'd like. Sign up to our newsletter at readerlinks.com and you'll get updates on new features after we launch.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on you. :)

I realize development takes time, and multiple retailers might not be a priority. I can see the manual option working out for people with one pen name and few books. I tried BookTrakr, but I dropped it, because I had to add every book manually. I publish multiple books a month year round, so I'm looking for the least time-intensive tracking I can get. I wish you well with your venture.

Hi all. ReaderLinks has launched if you're interested in trying it out. Features include:

KDP reports (auto-scraping like BookReport is being tested now and coming soon)
Return on Investment (ROI) tracking (Facebook ads and AMS ads are supported as of now. Per book ROI is next on our priority dev list)
ARC/Reader Team management
Promo tracking
Create links (using your own domain with our WP plugin) with affiliate and geo-link support.
Overall and per book calendar and tasks
Tweet management (including ability to organize your tweets in categories which is great for promos and holidays)
Core Links allows you to set up link types (i.e. back matter to review page) ONCE and it will be applied to all books current and future
Core Tasks allows you to identify and track those tasks that we have to do for every book launch
MyBooks page is a page that you can share with readers that lists all of your books and their sales links across online stores and media type
3 pen names included
PA/VA support

Let me know if you have any questions.

Bookreport gives us a total sales back to when we first published. Is there a way for ReaderLinks to do that? It seems we can only go back 90 days.

The auto-scraper that we're testing for launch will include an option to download all of your historical data. We're looking at being done with this feature in about one week. Right now we can only do 90 days because we rely on the KDP Reports page which only goes back 90 days. So stay tuned.

Do you have plans to support reports from other booksellers, like Google Play, Kobo, etc.?

Definitely. We're working on Createspace next and then will move on to B&N, Kobo and any other distributor/store that provides downloadable reports.

Hi all. Just a quick note to let you know that the auto-scraper for KDP reports is up and running. Next up is ROI per book (for FB and AMS ad spends) and additional online markets' sales reports.  ;D
