Product Description

Denny O'Callaghan is afraid to open his eyes.

He'd been out drinking last night with the guys, and his head throbs, his arms hurt, and he can't remember what he's done.

He opens his eyes. Blood. On his sheets. His pillowcase.

Then he gets a call: his ex-wife was murdered last night.

He desperately tries to piece together what happened. But he can't explain how he got the scratches on his arms, the police want to know about the domestic violence report his ex filed against him, and his buddies say he was raging against her last night before he stormed off on his own.

Right about the time she was murdered.

« on: March 20, 2017, 10:39:19 AM »
Hi all. I love reading promo results, so I thought I would share. This book, The Feathers, went from $3.99 to Free on the 17th, with Freebooksy going out today, the 20th. The author circulated it on Facebook and Twitter, but Freebooksy is the only paid promo.

Results:
March 17: 82 units
March 18: 35 Units
March 19: 50 Untis, Rank #2300 in Kindle Free
March 20, so far: 865 units.  Rank 193 in Kindle Free, Rank #2 in Paranormal Suspense

The book looks wonderful. I nabbed a copy. Thanks for the results info.

Shouldn't your tagline read "small and mighty?" Think big.

I think you'll make top 100 before midnight:

Boy is that a cliff!! 1981 copies yesterday. 21 so far today.

The Feathers topped out at 108 in the Kindle Free store, so no top 100  :(
It did, however, spend most of the day at #1 in Paranormal Suspense and in the top 10 for Women Sleuths

I'm sure most people already know this, but Freebooksy by itself, while giving some good results, doesn't get you quite high enough to stimulate an organic upward trend. Or at least not this time. I have a Bargainbooksy running on another book starting tomorrow, so we will see how that goes.

Finalish results:

Free downloads: About 2300
KU page reads: About 1900 (on a 210 page book)
New reviews? We'll see
Follow on sales for book 2? We'll see.

I usually do well with Freebooksy, but it's not just the page reads and sell-thru. It's the audio books that get picked up.

Bargainbooksy doesn't work for me. But then nothing does at 99c.

How many of those 1981 DLs were in the US .com store, please? I had some large numbers of daily DLs too this past week that normally would have hit Top 100 but didn't until cumulative numbers finally tipped the book in. I know there were about 15 scam/bot-driven titles each day in the Top 30 during our free days, and my assumption is those types of books are playing a part in rank suppression.

I didn't check yesterday, so I don't know how many of those scam books were sitting in the Top 100. Under past ordinary circumstances for months like March (not a huge store volume month like Nov-Jan are), anything over 1500 or so DLs were enough to hit in the Top 100. Hmmm.

I'm the same way - nothing works for me at .99. I always love Freebooksy, though. No matter how many times a certain book runs, I can always count on at least 1200 DLs.

Two dollars! Two dollars! I want my two dollars!!!

I've got a new audio coming out soon and I'll be running a Freebooksy then. I'm glad they were mentioned because it reminded me I'd better book now.

For a final update, saw 40 purchases of The Feathers at regular price after the promotion ended, more or less paying for the cost.  Only 2 sales on book two so far, and no new reviews, but that might take some time.

I ran a freebooksy two weeks ago, but also combined it with free book feed on the first day, and had two separate newsletters sent on the second and third day (the promo ran all 5 days).

I got 6k downloads, reached #39 on the kindle store, and stayed on the top 5 for my categories, science-fiction - adventure, and urban fantasy. Since it ended, I've sold about 50 books (priced at 0.99), and around 20k in KU pages. I also got 18 news reviews, and my other unrelated book got a nice bump as well.

This is the second time I've done a freebooksy. The first time, for that unrelated book, I got over 5k downloads, and about 40 reviews in the following weeks. I'm definitely going back to them every time :)

I just ran a Bargainbooksy on a different title, and had only 4 downloads. so it sounds like I agree with you on Freebooksy vs. Bargainbooksy

Correct me please if I'm wrong, but I am amazed how being top 20 in a sub category doesn't translate to even 50-100 extra dlds a day!!

It's top 20 on the free store  :P Once you go back to being paid, your ranking goes back. In my case, to 16k in the store.

The closest I've been is the top #100 for one of my categories, which lasted for about two days while running a mega promo. #3000+ on the kindle store. Heaven  8)

Yeah I know, but while its top 20 free I'd assume it would pull a good number of dld's, for example in a subcategory such as romantic suspense. Yet I haven't found this to be the case.
