And if you're feeling generous, you can rate and review here on iTunes.

We've spanned a good gamut of genres now, from scifi to steampunk, fantasy to historical fiction, a dash of nonfic and a smidgeon of YA romantic comedy, and a little dose of post-apocalyptic. I'm open to more, and always looking for new authors to feature! So if you'd like to have me read from one of your books on the show, send me a PM here or write to me at benjamindouglasbooks@gmail.com to let me know.

Thanks all!

Hello the house!

I'd like to invite you all to check out my shiny new podcast, which launches today with a whopping three episodes (yay!): The Book Speaks Podcast, where the book speaks for itself:

https://thebookspeakspodcast.wordpress.com/

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9shZlLuGGAtml-mbAAjL1882sHC1SgIE

In each episode I read an excerpt from the work of an indie author. The first three episodes feature chapters from Michael Anderle, Patty Jansen, and Timothy Ellis--thank you all!--and we have Mark E. Cooper, Evan Pickering, Joseph Lallo, and Izzy Shows all on deck. I'm drooling. Am I drooling? I am.

What's the value here? Why should you listen?

My goal is to curate a collection of writing samples from the indies you and I are all seeing on lovely forums like KBoards, and on blogs, and in popular podcasts--the indies whose advice we are hearing, and perhaps at times taking, whether or not we've read any of their books. My hope is that The Book Speaks will act both as a funnel to those books (like what you hear? Go get the book!), and as a body of reference material for you and me, indie authors who want some additional context on what our peers and mentors are all about.

If you're interested in being featured on the podcast, feel free to PM me and point me in the direction of what you'd like me to read. I prefer first chapters (all content available in the 'Look Inside' Amazon feature) if you're in KU or Audible, so that we don't run afoul of any content restrictions. I'm not monetizing the show at all at this time; just building platform. And at least for the time being I'm not planning to do any interviews, so your time commitment is very small. I'll link to your website and your Amazon Author Page in the shownotes, and I'll read your Amazon Author Bio and Amazon Author Rankings (if available) in your episode.

That's my spiel--thanks for checking it out! I'm embedding the first three episides below so you can have a listen without committing. Get inspired, and get back to work, you  ;)

Love me some Michael Anderle  :). He's a mentor I have high regard for and utmost respect. He treats everyone as an equal and with the same respect. He needs not put anyone down to boost his ego. He's a fine man--fair, caring, generous and giving--and he deserves the success he's achieving.

It's nice that you give a prelude to how you found them and read their bios. Good luck with your podcast, Benjamin. Sounds like a great lineup!

Looks great! I can't wait to check it out when I get my book out the door in a week or so and have a lot more time. I bookmarked, but is the show available on Stitcher, iTunes, or any other podcast catcher?

Thanks Connie! I'm having conniptions trying to get set up on iTunes, but I'm sure I'll get it sorted out eventually. In the meantime I've used feedburner to get started and it is apparently available to follow on a couple of podcatchers there:

Glad you bookmarked!

Hi Everyone! Just commenting to bump and let you all know that I've updated the episode list in the OP. We're at 21 episodes now, and I think there's some really valuable content! The show now boasts readings from Chris Fox's nonfic and fic, two author interviews (thanks Elizabeth and Boyd!), two guest narrations, and a whole bunch of readings from scifi, post-apoc, fantasy, historical fiction, urban fantasy, YA rom-com... the list goes on :)  Check it out!

Thanks for asking. Our Dunkirk Week Promo was a super success, and we REALLY appreciate you being a part of it. Thank you very much.

We now have a Facebook page with 200+ followers but unfortunately we don't really know how to best utilize it. On the one hand it's amazing to build up all these followers, but we also don't want to bombard them with a hardshell. So I don't know . . . .

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Good to hear! Yeah that's interesting about FB... I was just starting to think I'd hit gold with an idea to use a Group instead of a Page so that I wouldn't have to boost posts and all that, but it sounds like recently they've begun making changes to nullify that difference (listen to last week's Sell More Books Show for discussion of that).

At any rate, happy to hear you've got a new pool of readers :)

Thanks again!
