Illustrator for children's books
« on: April 20, 2017, 05:24:50 PM »
Does anyone have an illustrator they would recommend for children's books?  My friend (and co-author in one series) also writes children's books.  She has one series about a cute little witch and hasn't had any luck finding the look she wants for her characters.  She's tried fivvr and a few other places...any suggestions?

Try Katie Stewart, here:

She does nice children's stuff. It might suit.

Thank you both for the suggestions.

It's been difficult for her to find someone, who has the style she's looking for...it's probably more vintage than what's popular now.  Cute, sweet and feisty with more detail in the facial features, but not like a photograph.

I'll give her these links.  Does anyone else have any suggestions?

There is a Facebook group called Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. If she joins and posts that she's a writer looking for an illustrator, she will get upwards of twenty illustrators posting their portfolios to browse. Most are very good, only a few who haven't quite honed their skills yet. And a pretty big price range to fit most budgets, especially from the overseas illustrators.

ETA: storybird.com is a great place to shop for and connect with illustrators, though that is not their main function.
