I imagine the U.S Amazon market dwarfs the others. With that in mind, I assume it's easier to achieve a lower sales rank in Canada, Australia, the U.K. etc. and a lower sales rank probably doesn't mean you're selling tons of books. I'm curious how you're doing in these smaller markets, and whether achieving a low sales rank, and sub 100 in your categories, gives you good enough visibility to make your sales and KU borrows a significant portion of your income.
The other markets have yet to become a significant portion of my income, but lower rank does lead to higher visibility, just as it does in the US. I'm still getting activity in Australia from my last new release, and Australia was a market where I used to be lucky to get one sale every four months.
I actually find it much harder to rank in those markets because they're harder to target with advertising! But the UK market especially is a decent size. I had an international BookBub on The Sorcerer's Concubine and ever since I've been ranking as well there as in the US. Ditto Australia. Since the international BB about 30% of my sales are international! But before the BookBub I had no traction there, except in France for some reason (but France is tiny...even when I was ranking really well there--I had two books out at the time--it got me about $100 a month).

Good to hear that. I have three sales this morning in Australia, and am ranking in the 4,000 range. I took a screen shot last night of my rank in Canada- 1283 at the time. I'm not seeing a lot of sales, so not sure what could account for the drop. Can I be getting THAT many KU borrows? I am running promos, but still!

I haven't looked at France, but I have been keeping an eye on the English speaking markets since I started my promos. You're right, it's hard to find promos that effectively encompass other countries. The U.K is surely the easiest of the bunch, and that's not saying much. I have tried a few FB ads in the U.K market, but that gets to be expensive.
