A ruthless murder and a stolen shipment of gold.

At school, sixteen-year-old Nikaia Wales endures the taunts of bullies who call her a “half-breed.” At home, she worries about how her family will react if she reveals her growing feelings for the quiet boy next door.

Those are soon the least of her troubles. Nikaia discovers a hidden cache of gold, and when police find a corpse nearby, her father becomes a suspect. Worse, Elias Doyle is circling, hungry to avenge his brother’s death.

Nikaia desperately searches for clues to save her father. In her quest to find the killer, she learns about the power of family, friendship, and young love....

Your Familiars
« on: September 12, 2017, 10:54:35 PM »
Hi guys!

I'm not sure if we have a thread like this, so I figured I'd make one.

Anyhow... do any of you have pets? Do they keep you company while you write? My cat Jezabelle sometimes perches on the back of my chair, or sits on the couch my desk is situated beside, when I write.

Here's a picture of us lounging about:

I'd love to see y'all's pets if you have any!

I've never figured out how to put pictures on here, but you can see one of my dogs in my avatar. Unfortunately, I no longer have a dog, but that is Joshua at about 8 months old.

Unfortunately not at the moment.

We did have a labrador, but he missed living at the seaside when my girlfriend moved in with me, so now he lives with her mum up in Yorkshire.

Off on holiday to Cornwall in a couple of days, but when we get back we have our eye on a lurcher puppy...

I have 4 chooks.  They're not allowed in the house, but we catch up on things when I hang out the washing.

I have a never-ending fight with my cat over who owns my desk chair.

What is up with that? I have a cat that gets in my chair the minute I stand up. Every time I go to the printer, or get a glass of water... I've found myself refusing to get up just to thwart her. I have 3 cats and the calico is the only one that does that.

My dog Ajax loves to hang out under me . . .whether under my desk or under the bar. Achilles, also a dog, is always near by, but rarely in the way.
Here are a few pictures I took while working.

I remember you speaking of your dogs in the past, and I always smile when I look at that "monster" who's trying to lick you to death and the fact that at that big it was still less than a year old. A Newfoundland, was it not?  :)

My boyfriend has a dachshund named Max who just lays around all day while I write. My room mate also has a cat but the cat goes nuts and tries to eat the cord on my headphones. Honestly I wish I had a more distraction free environment to do my writing in because some days the animals make it feel more like a zoo than my office.

We (my daughter) recently had a hermit crab named Crabby Patty.  Sadly, Crabby Patty stopped eating and passed away.
I do have a ton of plants, though!  I like plants.  Plants are my thing.
Someday we'll get a dog, I imagine, but we need a bigger place first.

I have a very old black and white cat (over 20) who interrupts me all the time for no apparent reason. He sometimes calms down when you brush him or put the heater on, but I think he just wants some sort of attention.
I also have a huge middle-aged hyperactive tabby cat who likes to jump on the keyboard when I'm typing - to be fair, it's on his way to the crate on the window-sill where he likes to sleep during the day. He quite often adds random stuff to my novels, and he has been known to crash the internet and (only once, thank goodness) send all my files to the Recycle Bin. Just as well I noticed that in time

Maybe it's time to ditch the cat and get a dog. :)

Dido says "hi" and "givus a bone, will ya?"

OMG! He looks sooooo like my Sam!  (I lost Sam to lupus and severe epilepsy several years ago. Sniff.  The only dog I've ever had who didn't live to advanced old age. Still miss him, the little bugger.)

My avatar is my current lord and master--a six and a half pound Pomeranian/Chihuahua mutt I rescued off the street. The vet estimated he was about 2 at the time....and he barely weighed 3 pounds. He's much better now! He is totally blind (he was mostly blind in the beginning), but you'd never know it...until he starts galloping about and runs into a wall.  Doesn't happen very often, though.

In fact, they do often squeeze onto one bed by choice, even if it means someone's head dangles off the edge. It's sweet. :)

LOL about sharing the dog beds, Becca!

Somewhere I have a picture of my six pounder in happy possession of a huge dog bed, while the bed's owner, a 70 lb pit/wolf hound mix, forlornly manages to claim only a few square inches of the corner with his butt.
