Awesome! Good similarity to your previous color, and the red glow gives off a distinctly ominous and sinister vibe, which would benefit a darker series installment.

Actually I don't have the original fonts for the first book they belong to Patty Jansen so I will prbly have him change the first books fonts with the release of the second book.. so they come out together

Nice!

As a nitpick, any reason the word covenant is so much smaller than the word "voices" from the first book? I would think you'd want them to both be the same size 9would also fill up some of that empty space near the bottom.

The reason is he gave me control of the fonts .. lmao I have been playing with size *that ones on me* but yea, I will prbly make it bigger like the previous title before release.

Yeah, otherwise looks pretty good!

I'm having a skype call with my artist in a couple of weeks to try to figure out my book three cover. Currently no idea.  :'(

Oh so you are the lucky owner of that gorgeous 'painting' I'd like to hang in my room (your cover 2). Don't make cover 3 any more awesome, I don't think my poor heart could stand it ;)

Good idea to match the fonts on both covers. And sizes. And position of the book name/series name - I noticed those are reversed.

Nope, asked that, apparently it should be title then subtitle.. unless you already have a big name which would go first. The size I will redo during the editing phase.. it isn't as much copying the first books design as fixing what I did wrong with the first one so I can move on to the next covers, its a longer series in that world soo getting it right now would be good.

Thanks!

Big problem is that I haven't come up with a visual for book three that matches the first two (which I love). They all need to be out of this world.

I love both of them to, but I suppose it depends on where you took the third book.. if its the same artist then I am sure it will be phenomenal!

Big mountain with fortress... big mountain with dragon... big mountain with something big that appears in third book - god/goddess smiting the field in front of the huge mountain with bolts of lightning... or big mountain with dragon flying over fortress attacking the epic army coming to conquer or big mountain is exploding as a volcano and wiping out the fortress and the dragon because it wanted top billing on the cover. :P

I meant I liked cover 1 layout and think cover 2 name, title, subtitle should be arranged to match since they were different. I agree fixing cover 1 to match your series is best done now.

Funny, that's what I thought of.. a dragon sitting on a mountaintop looking out over the city or a world in the book...

Maybe the mountain looking over the city with just a hint of a dragon in back/to the side, showing he is coming back?

Oh! I got it - they have slain the dragon and it's body is on a huge spike in front of the fortress which is in front of the mountain! HAH!

That of course  p*ss es off the dragon's relatives who come for revenge in the next book!

The answer is obviously no, you should not kill the dragon. Unless it's evil, in which case that's acceptable.

That's a nice cover to go along with your first but I would do a couple things:
  • Use consistent title positioning - the order each line appears from top to bottom on the page and their relative sizes. Personally, I'd stick with the order and basic positioning/sizing from the first cover.
  • Consistent title scaling - Also notice on your first cover the vertical spacing and width of the titles - they're evenly distributed and the words are roughly as wide as the central glyph - you'd want the same on cover 2.
  • Use consistent title fills - you have a simple-to-reproduce gradient fill on the first cover. You could apply that same effect in red to the second cover.
  • Contrast - Your second cover needs more contrast - a brighter red to stand out against the dark background - for both the title and the glyph.
  • Fonts - you can use multiple fonts if they look good together and there are plenty of serif fonts out there to choose from. I might look for a better match for the word 'covenant' - preferably something that will show off your new gradient fill.

If you want to play around with color, adobe has a nice site https://color.adobe.com/ that lets you work with colors and it gives you the RGB and hex values of the colors you setup so you can use them in your chosen graphics software. Use the monochromatic or shades setting to pick colors that are "technically" good together. You could consider sampling color from your first book and using something like the triad color setting to get base colors for your other covers, then using the shades/etc. for the colors within a cover. It's a good tool and people have also uploaded lots of different palettes that you can just use.

Good luck!

Jeff

Looks great! Nice branding, too.  8)

But like others have said, I'd make sure the fonts match for the two titles.

I'd match the fonts, too.  And maybe switch author/series title.

Love the color! Bad stuff is going to happen, isn't it?  Can't wait for book 2. :)

Ok, don't hurt me! I assumed the dragon on the cover was evil since it looked sinister and had some mages going after it.

I like the second cover, but it looks much less polished than the first cover, to me; almost unfinished. I think increasing the contrast would help; perhaps a contrasting color behind the red glyph within the circle (the way the blue has a sort of golden texture behind it to make it pop). I also think copying the gradient fill on the title, but in red, would help make it look finished.

Author name at the bottom needs to be readable in thumbnail.

"Child" of "Evolution's child" also doesn't seem as clear as "evolution" for what it's worth. The cover is good just needs a little polishing to be great!   =  )

Yes, the font needs work. None of it is really easy to read at a glance, and the author name is pretty much impossible to decipher against the background. The typesetting as a whole just doesn't look professional.

The art is nice, though!

I still feel like it needs an actual contrasting color in there, not just a brighter version of the red. Something to pop the image out at us.
