Kindle Voyager registration(?) problem
« on: October 19, 2017, 05:29:26 PM »
My Mom wanted a new Kindle to replace her existing one.  I bought one for her using my Amazon account.  She  says my name or email(?) appears on her new Kindle and she needs to do something to replace my information with hers.  Any suggestions on what she needs to do to make this happen?

I know nothing about Kindles and we live 2000 miles from each other.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

If you bought it on your account and didn't mark it as a gift, it comes automatically registered to your account.

You can go to your account and deregister it; it should be showing if you go to 'accounts and lists' and scroll down to 'your content and devices'. 'Devices' is the second tab.

She may need to deregister it from the device as well, which she should be able to do by going into settings. Tap the icon on the home page that looks like a gear, and then 'all settings' to the right (another gear icon). The top option is 'my account'. If she taps that option where it has your name, there will be several menu choices, one of which is 'deregister device'. If she taps that it'll be no longer connected to your account.

Then she can register it to her own account.

Note that she has to be on a wifi network to do this.
