It's a mystery- Something is wrong. As Lance Underphal pads softly across the cold flagstone, he hears her weeping. She is on her knees, hunched over in the middle of the room, her back to him, facing the dark fireplace. Something is very wrong. Lance wants to rush to her, but can't. In a hoarse whisper, he says, "Callie?" She lets out a mournful wail from deep within as she turns, their infant son in her arms, blue and still. He reels from the blow. How can this be? They don't have a son.

My name is Rick Perry (not the governor) and I have recently published my first novel, The What If Project. I love reading all the interesting posts and connecting with other writers. I am currently participating in my second NaNoWriMo and having a great time!

Author Bio
Rick Perry is a retired English teacher, coach, and administrator with an avid interest in books, movies, sports, politics, education, and current events. After 35 years experience in both public and private education, he is eager to spend time writing and sharing his thoughts and opinions on a wide variety of subjects.

Rick has been married to his wife Patti for thirty years and they have two children, Scott and Caitlin. His first novel was written in November during the 2016 NaNoWriMo event. The book is now available in paperback and multiple ebook formats. He is currently working on a new novel and finishing a previously begun young adult tale. He hopes to one day publish a collection of short stories and poetry, as well.
