Promoting our own (and others') holiday stories
« on: December 07, 2017, 03:54:49 AM »
On another thread I suggested we cross-promote each others' holiday stories.  I don't have a huge following, but I'll be glad to mention holiday stories throughout the month, and maybe others can do the same.

And because we all write in different genres and have different types of stories, perhaps we should also note a few details, such as:

LENGTH   (short story vs novella vs full-length novel)

GENRE    (i.e., suitable for all ages, or geared toward fantasy fans, etc.)

PRICE

I'll start:   Here are my two offerings.  Both are SHORT STORIES (one is very short).  One is somewhat action oriented (involving a thief) but the other is strictly heartwarming family fare.  Both are FREE.

Family fare (can even be read aloud):

I'm interested, but still working on my Christmas story.  I'm so far behind, I'm hoping it will be finished in time. :)

This is a great idea, Jena. I'm taking part in a couple of holiday cross promos this month and am also planning a round-up of science fiction, fantasy and horror holiday stories at the Speculative Fiction Showcase and a round-up of mystery, crime and thriller holiday stories at the Indie Crime Scene respectively this year. Both round-ups will go up on Christmas Eve.

I also have a bunch of holiday stories:

Title: Christmas Gifts
Genre: Sweet contemporary romance, heterosexual
Length: short story

Title: Christmas Shopping with a Broken Heart
Genre: Sweet contemporary romance, heterosexual (some swearing)
Length: short story

Title: Christmas Eve at the Purple Owl Cafe
Genre: Sweet contemporary romance, lesbian (some swearing)
Length: short story

Title: A Bullet for Father Christmas
Genre: Mystery (part of the Helen Shepherd Mysteries series)
Length: novelette

Title: St. Nicholas of Hell's Kitchen
Genre: Pulp adventure (part of The Silencer series), adventures of a pulp writer turned masked crimefighter in the 1930s
Length: novella

Title: The Tinsel-Free Christmas Tree: A Not Really SF Story
Genre: Humor, satirical science fiction (part of the Alfred and Bertha's Marvellous Twenty-First Century Life series), basically, the Alfred and Bertha stories are mundane slice of life stories written in the style of overly infodumpy vintage science fiction
Length: short story

And here is my latest holiday story, just published a few hours ago:

Title: Christmas on Iago Prime
Genre: science fiction, space exploration (part of the A Year on Iago Prime series)
Length: short story

I have two short stories with Christmas themes previously published, "Potluck" and "Zukie's Gift". Both are semi-cozy mysteries, both priced at 99 cents.

THANKS TO ALL who have replied.  I just made my first post, and included one book each from Cora, Spin52, and Amebury.  Again, not a huge following, but we all know there's no such thing as too much (or bad) publicity.   ;)

TromboneAl, thanks for the plug....  do you have any holiday stories to add?

(p.s. Cora, you have quite a few holiday books under your belt.   8)  I'll include others each time.)

'Duh' to me... it was staring me in the face!   :-[    And I even remember your thread about the cover.  In any case, I added your book to today's post.
