#MeToo comes to self-publishing
« on: December 16, 2017, 09:47:11 AM »
Former Supreme Court clerk Heidi Bond, on why she became our own hugely successful and generous romance author Courtney Milan.

Thank you, Heidi/Courtney, for your courage in speaking out.

Wow. I remember reading about this judge, but I had no idea Courtney was one of his victims.

ETA this.

the fact that #metoo has been building for centuries

Yes, it has. And it's a shame that in the 21st century, this sort of thing is still happening. And also that it surprises some people when they learn of it.

I feel such sadness for Courtney and all the others who have had to hold these secrets. It's painful, and totally unfair, that women are put in these positions. As I rush into my sixth decade, I can only say #metoo. To recount the incidences in my own life would take a book, and I don't think I'm nearly a good enough writer to convey what it feels to be a victim, simply because I was born female.

Stay strong, Courtney (Heidi), and know that as much as it hurts you to speak out, you may be saving another young woman from living this nightmare, or at least prevent her from feeling the shame that should not be hers.

I have increased respect for Courtney Milan (Heidi) having read how she has overcome and positively responded to that sexual intimidation.

It's sad to see that these things are still so common but I like seeing these rats getting brought into the light.
