Thank you all for rating the original sets, It's definitely helped. I ruled out the least favorite, went with white (it tied with gold, both were favorites, thanks on that!) and switched the cover order around, taking Nick's point that the cover with the flaming sword was a good lead book eye-catcher.

That being said, I experimented a bit with cover 1, trying out a few variants, and I'm curious to see which people like best! - First using the original title, then showcasing a couple two-word titles that might (or might not) be more catchy/appealing.

The set of three

Do you like one of these lead covers better?

A                                                  B                                                    C

Thanks again for all your support and feedback, I'm grateful for it!

I eliminated set one right away. I was torn between set two and three but I settled on set 3. The text is easier to read to me. The white pops more than the yellow. Great covers!

I preferred set 1 because the banner text across the top of 2 and 3 was too light, especially on the first book versus the third.

Really beautiful covers. My choice would be set 3.  They stand out to me more.

Very nice. I like set 2 but you need to darken the box around the series title so it stands out better, otherwise it looks washed out in books 1 and 2. I think the title coloring really works and gives it a bit more pop.

3. I'd considered changing the color of the series "banner" from the off green to something with a little more pop. Not sure how a red or a blue would mesh with the existing color scheme, but it's worth asking your designer to see.

I'd also consider making the text on covers 2 + 3 the same size (e.g. larger) as #1 for consistency. Also, maybe make cover #2 the first in the series, as it's by far the strongest and most eye-catching. I get that might mess with the whole squire thing, since she's wielding a firey sword, but just something to consider.

Anyway, good branding and good artwork.

I like both set 2 and set 3, but I would suggest darkening the image across the top of the first two books so the banner is more visible (the way the images are done in set 1).

Although 1 shows your artwork, it fails to convey the idea that those books are in a series. And 3 breaks consistency by placing the title on the bottom. So definite no for #1.

Of the choice between 2 and 3, I am pretty evenly split. I think the color gives the title more pop while the white lets the eyes enjoy the background a bit more.

Things that need improved:
The titles of all three books should occupy the same amount of space on the cover. That means 1 is too large, 2 is a tiny bit overly large, and 3 has no choice due to width constraints so I'd try matching 1 and 2 to 3.
The subtitle and author name is too hard to read on book 1 and 2. I think the bar underneath the subtitle should be fully opaque and so should the author name if it isn't. There's enough background image to look at, it doesn't need to be competing with the typography.

2 or 3 but I wish the series title was down by the title and not with the author name for flow of information.

Personal opinion, but I think banners make covers look old-fashioned. I go with #2 without the banner and the author name moved up slightly to accommodate (also the non-decorative font might work better). I think the titles are a little close to the bottom of the layout, too, if you're going to do a print option. Love the artwork, though!

I agree with the other folks. I like set three, it has this sort of old fashioned fantasy cover look toit.

I vote with 2. I like 3 as well, but the white makes it seem a little washed out.
