I swear I haven't been drinking!
« on: April 22, 2018, 04:43:00 PM »
This freaked me OUT. I was just casually checking out deals on Book Bub, I clicked on the link for this book:

https://www.amazon.com/Matchmakers-Playbook-Kindle-Motion-Wingmen-ebook/dp/B016WM6MEC?_bbid=9708391&tag=bookbubemail11-20

Suddenly, these x's and o's and hearts pop up all over the screen. Then... the guy on the cover starts moving. I swear! And I REALLY hope this wasn't some weird thing that only pops up randomly, because I don't want you to think I'm insane. You have to see it to believe it. I literally jumped back from the computer. I'm still eeked out, and yet.... I'm kinda sad I can't do this for my romantic suspense novels because there are no PEOPLE on the covers!!!

Gah!

Haha, I read an article about the kindle in motion and animated book covers awhile back. I think there might be a thread on the board somewhere? They are really cool, but I think I read that you have to be specially chosen or get permission or something to have one display on Amazon. You can still make one or have one made for Facebook, etc.

You can have other things move. I hear Deranged Doctor Design can do it for you. Don't know if you can put it on Amazon but you can put it on FB.

I know, I know everybody thinks it's cute, innovative and in theory (with all my harry potter love), I should love it.... but I still think it's creepy asf

Perhaps it's time you started drinking. It's a great insulator against sudden surprises :D

Good grief! I was as shocked as you as I haven't seen this before. It was creepy and why is he so blinky? He blinked four times in quick succession, is that supposed to be sexy? The Sherlock in me just made me label him as 'Liar'...

I thought it was kinda cool personally, but would probably have been quite freaked if I wasn't expecting it!  :D

Agreed! lol

.. and NTY.. it looks weird and a bit to distracting for a hook... maybe something else would work better though..

I guess it's a good thing romance covers are trending away from headless bodies then

That. is. Freaking. AWESOME!

I like it. I want one. And who's designing these amazing covers?

Okay, so yeah, the blinking thing is weird. He should've done a sexy wink instead. Yet, I still thinks it's cool.

I was thinking that too, that it would be way cooler than this.

Sexy wink would have been a million times better, but would prefer some rugged hunk to do it. However, I suspect this book is aimed at teenage girls who probably like the coy boy thing he has going on.

I too, would like to know who is designing them and how we get one. I have a book coming up with ghosts in it and I'd adore a cover where the ghost fades in and out.

Anyone?

That is so cool. It's amazing what can be done with technology these days. Unfortunately, it makes me feel so old as I used to be right on top of all this stuff and now it's beyond me. I have plateaued out with my computer skills and getting moving faces on book covers will never happen for me.   :D

I've seen it before. (There's definitely an older thread somewhere in here.) I still don't like it. To me, it's like those digital billboards on the highway, changing every few seconds and creating a distraction. I'm all about the pretty covers, but this isn't for me.

I really think the visual appeal depends on the book cover. This one I could sit and admire for hours. It might even convince me to buy...

I think it would work well for some genres. Not sure if it was just me but i found that one a bit creepy.

Ok that one is fascinating, Becca. It does tempt me to buy it and I don't even read time travel.

Those are pretty cool. Here's a link to more of them in the Kindle in Motion section on Amazon.

The Dracula cover is pretty sweet.
