So you guys use real tea? Do you make it properly first, then wait for it to cool down before adding the ice? Otherwise I'm imagining it would simply melt the ice and you'd end up with "Lukewarm Tea".
And Lukewarm Tea just sounds disgusting. In fact, it is!
Red Diamond (brand) tea bags. Boil water in a pan. Add tea bags (four if quart-sized, one if gallon-sized). Let it brew until until it's just warm enough to melt the sugar. Pour into a gallon pitcher, add a cup or so (however sweet you like it) of sugar and stir it together. Now add cold water to fill the pitcher and stir again. Pour into a glass with ice. Never add sugar when cold...yuck.
Iced tea.
Ice tea (sic) should perhaps better be spelled (spelt) "Ice' tea" with an apostrophe to indicate the dropped consonant.
Here in New England we make sun tea with a bunch of tea bags and water in a big glass jar in the sun.
Store it in the fridge and pour over ice. Add mint from the garden.
Very refreshing in the heat.
Of course, you could always go with sun-tea. Tea bags put in water, set in the sun to brew for a few hours and then add ice and sugar. That would put an end to your dilemma, lol
I make green tea or rooibos tea (in a pot properly warmed first, with fresh lemon grass, peppermint or ginger from my garden) for breakfast and put any remainder in a glass and leave it to cool before putting in the fridge. At lunch time I add a little apple juice to sweeten it and drink it with my lunch. That's my idea of iced tea, but I don't actually need the ice unless it's a hot and humid day .
