Have You Added a Video to Your Book Page?
« on: May 23, 2018, 08:31:44 PM »
I recently noticed a Related Video Shorts section on each of our book pages. So, I just added a video to my book page, a/k/a product page.

The categories include: unboxing, product demonstration, setup, troubleshooting, comparison, how to, and other.

Amazon reviews the videos within 24-48 hours.

Scroll down if you'd like to see how it looks.

Cute, but I wouldn't even have noticed it had I not been looking.

I have video trailers on my Author Page, but haven't yet seen how a trailer can be added to a book page.

I'm not sure people will notice, but I might try adding one when I find time.  (As with all things Amazon, or even "internet" related, not easy to figure out = there's no button that says "push here to add a vdo"! haha I need a button).  ;D

I added a video trailer to my author page some time ago, but this is the first I've seen of a video trailer on the product page. I just uploaded it to the product page, as well. Thanks for the heads-up!

How do you upload to your product page? I get the following g error:

Community Trust Violation

Your account isn't qualified to submit videos.

No problems putting the trailer on my Author Page though.

On my UK page, there is no 'add video' (for the individual book) but there is on the US one, which gives me that same error message.
I guess you can only do it in the US if that's your main site. (I'm in the UK).

On the author page, you can have 8 videos, I know because it wouldn't let me do number 9 :)

I have to edit my videos though as each book leaves KU. :)

I thought about it, but then I wasn't sure what shows up to viewers as far as who uploaded it. I didn't want my personal Amazon account to show up so people would make the connection to my author name. Is "an Amazon Customer" the name on your account when you leave reviews and stuff, or does it just put "an Amazon Customer" down for anyone who uploads a video?

I get the 'Community Trust Violation' error message, too (which makes me feel a lot better, as it means I'm not the only one violating the community's trust). I got the same message when I tried to upload a video to another random book as a test. I suspect we're blocked because we're from the UK and it will only allow Amazon US account holders to upload to Amazon US product pages.

I would imagine it would be the same as on the sales page, (done from Author Central), the video just plays without saying who uploaded it.

Does anyone know what formats are accepted? I tried an MP4, but it wouldn't even let me select it.

I would be thrilled if it were possible to put a video on a book page.  Unfortunately, I get the same error.    :(

When I tried, I got through the process, but if I recall correctly, the final button was grayed out, with no indication of what the problem was.

Don't know about book page but in Author central, my videos are MP4s.

Oddly, the video format Amazon plays seems to be MP4.
