The business card practically designed for authors
« on: June 12, 2018, 11:18:21 AM »
Disclaimer: I do not work for Moo. This is just a spontaneous "attaboy!" for a great company.

Hey authors!  How would you like your business card to look like this?

Now imagine if each card had a different book cover of yours?  And a scannable QR code pointing at your mailing list?  It can be done!  I've put different characters on each card before, and you will be quite amused at the little touches they add.  Their half-size cards make unique one-of-a-kind bookmarks by the way.  (The full-sized card is pictured).

Here's the card back:

And here are my collectible half-sized cards from previous orders:

You can read more about it on my blog and use the link there to get a discount (I'll get a little something too), or go direct to Moo: https://www.moo.com/us/.  If you've got these cards already, link 'em here!

Edited to clarify and add direct link. Drop me a PM if you have any questions. - Becca

Very nice!

What quality of card is that?  I took a look on their site and they have Regular, Cotton, Super and Luxe...

Quilters have been using Moo cards for years because you can have a different quilt on each card or group of cards.  My next business cards are going to be by Moo, probably before my next show in October.  Nice company to deal with and good quality cards.

(Quilters typically use the half size cards, which are very cute!)

@starkllr: This most recent shipment was regular with a glossy finish.  I haven't tried the other paper qualities before, but someday when I've got the time to design it right I'm going to do one with a gold foil logo just to see if I can get maximum shiny.   ;D   I'm interested to see how the other paper qualities affect the art and texture.  The regular paper quality is very sturdy, by the way.

There's all kinds of ways to customize these things, and they don't stop at cards.  They've got stickers and all kinds of other stuff.  Just for fun I'm going to add a picture of my half-sized collection here in a minute.

@Betsy:  I've been consistently amazed at how they manage to get unique art on each card.  I've never seen that option on any other kind of merchandise before, and the quality level just pushes it over the top.

This is a terrific concept. Unfortunately, the image I bought from ThinkStock specifically precludes my using it for business cards.

What about trading cards?   :P   Or maybe playing cards?  Put your book cover and buy link on the backs.   ;D

Several years back, I did cards through VistaPrint with my soapy serial cover on the front and a QR code on the back to get the book for free via my email list. I've long loved MooCards' rounded corners, but I think price-wise they're a bit more expensive than other business card printers. Still, worth checking out again, so thanks for sharing! (Especially since I forgot to include my email address on my latest batch of cards. Sigh.)

I've used Vistaprint for years and have been extremely happy with them--and if you wait, you can get 50% off deals from them.  I will continue to use them for my notecard packages that I sell with my quilts on them.  But I'm going to test drive some Moo cards.  I signed up for their mailing list and they send out discount offers occasionally.

Interesting idea. I can use the image for other promotional materials. Thanks!

Love those VistaPrint deals! I'm on a shoestring budget so I'm all about the discounts. Good luck with your MooCards. They really are pretty!

Book cards are a great idea, it's something I offer to my clients to design. I think it's a good way to get your name out and also can be used as a handy bookmark for readers :D

Not sure about that site, but other stock sites allow for business card use because it's an item not for resale. It's a free giveaway so it's not commercial. Check out other sites to get that stock from and you might be good for it.

first thought: how cool! I want some!

second thought: I don't do IRL promo or let my real self be connected with my pen names, so why in heaven's name would I want business cards?

but seriously cool anyway.

Awesome! Does this company design bookmarks, too?

It doesnt look like it. But if youre looking for a place, eprintfast.com has good prices, prints and ships quickly, and has good quality for the price.

The little half-sized cards are sorta-kinda good as bookmarks, but I'd be ecstatic if they would do full-sized ones at the same quality level as their business cards.   8)
