Squarespace mailing lists?
« on: June 13, 2018, 03:04:53 AM »
So I see that Squarespace is going to begin allowing you to send email campaigns directly through them. Has anyone else received the email?

The email I got was brief, with not much detail. Early access will get it free for a limited time, then once it becomes available to all they'll charge a monthly fee.

Thoughts?

I'd stick with one of the alternatives. Most are free to start, and they are bound to have more features.

Ask me how to speed up your site, the best bookshelf plugins, how to get your site ranked in Google, and why your site keeps crashing. If I don't know I will find out.

I offer free site critiques (tech, content, and design) and I will happily tell you what your tech guy needs to do.

I see two immediate problems. No, three.

1. Are they going to have advanced features like automation, which makes mailing lists so powerful?
2. What are you going to do when you want to change webhost platform?
3. It may well be that the software (hosted by squarespace) will let you send the emails. A similar option already exists for wordpress. But your domain's hosting ISP is still going to ban your account over sending out too many emails (because you look like a spammer)

All good points, Patty.  I guess we'll know more as more info comes out.

Don't get too dependent on them. They might not be great at it, and you'd have too many eggs in one basket. MailerLite is good start. MailChimp is ok.

I'm with mailchimp.  It was just a discussion to see if anyone else had had the email / what they thought.
