Summer slump already?
« on: July 11, 2018, 10:10:18 PM »
Hi,

I've no doubt AMS ads have helped my sales. Recently, sales and read through have been great

Over the past three days, though, sales have dropped by more than half, despite Amazon suggesting I increase my budget to improve my results, which I did.

I might be over-reacting too soon but I wanted to post here for opinions.

Is this the start of the summer slump? I recall that didn't start till August in previous years - for me, anyway.

Thanks for any advice.

I don't do AMS. But looking at my report, the last "good" day for me was July 8.

The month started out well...

I've been hearing this quite a bit in some of the Facebook groups. I've had a bit of a lull too, so who knows?

Yeah things have been slow. I have noticed a decrease since the new also bought testing started.

Deb, I've noticed it, too. I think it's likely related to the upcoming Prime Day on Monday-Tuesday. There are likely readers holding off on making purchases this week in anticipation of deals on Prime Day

Same here. I want to say it has to do with vacations and school being out, but I'm betting moving also boughts where no one will see this is having an impact as well.

*2 = And too many vdo games. When I was a teen, I had a long summer reading list (as did many others). These days I think for teens it's a long video game list, time allotted for facebook and instagram... etc etc
And... (see*1) It's a loop! :)

No slump here. My sales slumped last month, and picked up after the Fourth holiday.

FWIW I don't do AMS or KU, just straight sales.

Glad I saw this post.  My page reads over the last four days flat-lined completely.  Just when I think something is going to take off, reality hits.  Buggers!  I always thought the summer slump was partly a myth.  I always thought people were picking out their summer reads.  But, maybe it's just the opposite.

I used to think my summer sales were better on the *other* platforms, but this year I'm not noticing that :( In other words, I don't think it's a coincidence that Smashwords has its annual sale in July, you know? At least I've made a few bucks from that so far, but the other stores are pretty dead.
