I love the new cover! Definitely eye-catching and attractive. :) I try not to judge books by their covers too much, but the new one definitely captures my interest more than the other.

Thank you all so much for your input. I'm excited about the new cover and think it really goes with the tone of the book. I've asked Paul if he can put the dog in the purse instead of on it, but if not, I'll probably go with it the way it is.

He should be able to - I'm thinking if he takes just the head of the dog and has it above the bag, it'll be perfect.  Just my two cents - it really IS a nice cover :)

I think the dog looks good on the bag.  I would make it a little smaller so the ear doesn't stick off.

I think it will draw a lot of readers.  My wife would definitely like that one. :)

I'm going to choose between the two, but haven't decided yet. On the second one, Paul put the dog in the purse instead of on it and he changed the font. Any thoughts or opinions?

I like the dog in the bag. This makes more sense, and the dog is not so over-powering  :D

I liked the abstractness of the first.

Yes, the dog should be in the bag and the second one illustrates that, but the first one does the same and adds to the quirkiness of the cover. Thats if quirky is where your going with this.

Go with the first one.

Love the new design! Either of those two proofs would work great. Can't decide which I like best. I think this:

Second dog, first font.

Okay, I showed it to my wife who likes humorous romances a lot.  She said she likes the second one better, both with the dog and the font. :)  It's the style of cover that attracts her to books. :)

Thanks everyone for you valuable input. My initial impression was the second cover, first font and a bunch of you seem to have agreed. That's the one I'm choosing. I'm really impressed with Paul's work and I feel sure this new cover will help my book. I was a little hesitant to ask Paul for a cover because none of his other covers was anything like what I wanted, but decided to see what he could do with romantic comedy. I couldn't be more pleased with the results.

Here you can see what I mean about his other covers:

I love the new look!

I vote for the second with the dog in the bag. The first cover is too much about the dog--and, as someone else mentioned, it doesn't make sense to me.

Great work!!!

When I saw the two covers for the very first time, my immediate and instant reaction was the first cover with THIS DATE was actually titled THIS DATE.

The second cover with "This Date" ran as a sentence and I saw the title as "We interrupt This Date." That one immediately caught my attention over the other, and the pun or double meaning came through.

Now that I have lost any opportunity to repeat that very first encounter, I think the reaction was due to the lower case letters flowing to convey a sentence.

Disclaimer: I have no idea what I'm talking about, just reporting an instant reaction.

I like the second one much better.  I'd still tweak the dog - so the head is straight up and down.  It's a living critter; he's going to move his head regardless of the position of the bag so that his head is straight, ya know?  BUT - I'm also being super-picky and if I just saw the cover on a book rack I probably wouldn't have a second thought about the dog's head position.  That said, girl - your original cover was nice, but this new one is slick - VERY professional looking.  I definitely think you could put it side-by-side with Big 6 covers :)

Defintely the second.  The first looks like she's walking the dog.

I like the graphics on the first one a lot better. But I prefer the text on the first as the lettering is a lot clearer, and should shrink down better.

Either way, it's a cute cover. :)

The second one says more about the character. "Here is one of those women who take their little dogs into restaurants."  The first one might just be a woman who has a dog at home.  Which one are you trying to get across?

So far I've seen a slight jump in sales with the new cover. Nothing major, but better than usual over the past 2 days. I think a promotion right now would give it a real boost. Sadly, no promotions coming up for a while.
