One of my favorites is the one that our church put out (for a bit of shameless self-promoting). You can see it on iTunes here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/old-time-gospel-music-with/id302889278

or watch some previous at a post I made on my blog here: http://robertkunda.com/index.php?id=704724629041377998

Sounds like our playlists are very similar!!  :)  Right now though I am listening to rehearsal cds for Praise Team and choir, one of which is Christmas music!

Sorry for the confusion Robert. I was responding to Angela's post the other day.  :)

Oh, I wasn't confused. =) I looked back at her post so saw what you were talking about. But you're right, it's nearly September. I'm sure some of the malls near us already have decorations up! =)

I saw Christmas decorations at Hobby Lobby yesterday! The reason we start so early on Christmas music is so that we can have it memorized for our program in December. Last year we had our rehearsal CDs by the end of June. This year we didn't get them until the middle of August. Between memorizing music for Praise Team and for the choir Christmas program, I doubt I will be listening to anything else until mid-December. I do like Casting Crowns and Tenth Avenue North.

Not really a worship cd but this is absolutely my favorite Christian album of all time. We listen to it all the time.

My recommendation: "City On A Hill." It's not a band, but a collection of CDs, if anyone stills buys CDs. (I do.) They're upbeat, thoughtful and inspirational, not trendy or trying too hard to be all "let's rock out for Jesus," if you know what I mean.

If you want something solemn and contemplative, try some Gregorian chants by monks, you don't have to be Catholic to like them. For example

I love everything Chris Tomlin has ever written. His music speaks to my soul, quite literally.
