Writers' Cafe / Canadians Can Now See The Ads Of Any Facebook Page
« on: November 15, 2017, 02:51:06 PM »

Facebook implemented a new feature that is being tested in Canada only at the moment. It allows you to go to any facebook page and view the ads they are running. It won't show you their targeting or anything like that, but will show you the ad. If you're Canadian, you can now see what other authors are running.

Writers' Cafe / Would you respond to this one star review?
« on: November 04, 2017, 12:56:06 PM »
"Couldn't read. It's on my computer, but I read on Kindle."

What would you do in this situation?

What countries outside of US/CA/UK/AUS do you have the most success in? What countries have you tried to do promos for and failed?

Writers' Cafe / Kobo Reporting Issues?
« on: October 26, 2017, 10:09:47 AM »
Anyone else experiencing issues with their dashboard reporting? Yesterday, they had a warning at the top that they were experiencing difficulties and it would be resolved within 24 hours. The warning isn't there anymore, but it appears to not be functioning. I have a new release (less than 48 hours) and it moved into the top 1000 of Kobo, but it isn't showing any sales. Is this normal?

In the most recent KENPC topic thread, it was pointed out that a person "most likely" scammed their way to the #1 spot in all of the paid Amazon kindle store. The author David Gaughran wrote an excellent breakdown of what is going on. The below link was shared in the KENPC thread, but as Monique pointed out there, this should really have its own thread, so I decided to create a thread for it.

Share with others what is going on. The more people that know the better. Don't know what Amazon will do about it, but the least we can do is spread awareness. Ideally, it'd be great to get the story picked up by a big news organization (maybe then Amazon be more proactive) and that can only be done by drawing attention to it.

Would love to hear ideas on how we can get the word out there. Later today, I'm going to look for an appropriate Reddit thread to share this information with.

Writers' Cafe / Question about Kindle Unlimited and Free Days
« on: June 20, 2017, 10:59:01 AM »
I haven't had a book in KU since the KU1 days, so I don't know if this particular aspect of kindle unlimited has changed. I'm wondering, when a book does a free promotion for a day or two, does it still have an affect on paid rank when people in the KU program download it using the KU button? So when you go back to paid, it could theoretically be a higher rank than before the promotion?

Thanks ahead of time : D.

For those selected to the kindle scout program, is it still the same interface as when you self publish? Do you get to select the price the book is set at? If so, can you go in and change it at anytime? Can you run AMS ads for your books in Kindle scout?

I don't know how they handle the above situations since you no longer own the ebook rights anymore.  Thanks.
