The Book Corner / Goodreads Reading Challenge
« on: April 22, 2013, 10:39:22 PM »
Hey!

Does anyone participate in the Goodreads reading challenges? Last year I attempted 100 books, but only made it to 97  ::).
This year, since I'm graduating college and will have to work in a few months, I'm going to attempt 50 books.

I've read 17 books so far.

What are your reading goals?

Hey,

Does anyone watch the new show Orphan Black on BBC America. If so, what do you all think about it?
I like it so far, never watched a show about clones before!

Writers' Cafe / Outlining/Brainstorming

Hello all,
I lurked for about 2 weeks after an author I really like mentioned your board.

I'm graduating from college soon (undergrad), and I figured now was the time to start my attempt at writing (even though I major in Supply Chain, which has nothing to do with writing. Plus I'm freaking out because I'm graduating, and while I have a job in corporate, I don't know If this is what I want to do. Growing up happened too fast, lol).

I don't have much experience, besides college essays and such. But, I love reading and average about 100 books a year...so I figured, why not try to write, myself? I know many of you have written all your lives, and probably think this is silly.

Anyway, I was wondering how you all begin your novels...do you outline and/or brainstorm, if so how do you do it? Or, do you just jump right in and begin writing?

Any tips for an aspiring writer (online resources, things you've learned, etc)? I know that many of you have written many novels, and most of the posts are about what to do after.

Thank You!
SpartanGrad.
