LOL! All it takes to get their attention is money. Who knew?

Works every time!

Thank you all! The fake book is gone! My web designer phoned Amazon and threatened legal action, saying it could cost them 30K . The book disappeared ten minutes after he hung up.

Happy ending to this one, phew!

And it gets worse! The link in the fake book is to a pishing site that harvests e-mail addresses. My web designer is now on to Amazon.

ETA: They said to him it would take 24 hrs. Maybe if a lot of people reported it, that could help too?

Ooof.  You know... I might actually escalate this up to a phone call.

There is a phone number? Where?

They do take it pretty seriously--though I can't help wondering why they didn't catch such a blatant ripoff in the first place.

Another interesting question: how did the book get linked to your author page if it was published by a different account?

I have no idea! I got a response from Amazon with a form to fill in for copyright infringement so that's all done now. They said it'll take two days or so.

I've e-mailed them. I might also place a one-star review on the fake one.

I noticed this in the list of my books on both amazon uk and us, a weird copy of my book the Blow-In that I didn't publish. When you open it, you see that there is none of the details I put into the original and the formatting is really bad. How could this happen?

Original: https://www.amazon.com/Blow-Tipperary-Book-1-ebook/dp/B01HVQVUPY/ref=sr_1_13?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1522829385&sr=1-13&keywords=susanne+o%27leary

weird copy: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BXB74NT/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1522829385&sr=1-1&keywords=susanne+o%27leary

my list: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_9?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-text&field-keywords=susanne+o%27leary&sprefix=susanne+o

The books have different ASINS and the fake was published yesterday. What is happening????

Welcome back! Would a romantic comedy set in Ireland be all right? #1 in a series.

Congratulations, Susanne! And thanks for sharing details about this publisher. I think that being hybrid is a great option for many authors.

Thank you!

Congratulations! I'm traditionally published but looking to go indie. I'm looking forward to the hybrid life.

Thank you! Yes I think hybrid is ideal. It truly widens your horizon.

I just went to their website, and I couldn't tell what they meant by "collaborative." Are you paying for these services, or do you get an advance? Assuming you feel comfortable sharing that information. I'm probably looking in the wrong place but I didn't see any information about what royalties, etc. they paid at all, just stuff about all the services they provided... A "publisher" who was really just a packager tried to scam me before and did scam one of my friends for thousands so I'm unusually gunshy.

OMG, no! They are a VERY reputable publisher, part of the Hachette group. I did a lot of research before I signed with them. I also have author friends who have been with them for over two years and are very happy.

Eighteen years in this business teaches you a thing or two...

Congratulations!!  I just visited their website and it looks like a great group.  I've really enjoyed being a hybrid.  It feels like whenever my indie world is flagging, my trad titles pick up and visa versa.  I know I wouldn't have been able to weather the storms of the years without having feet in both worlds.  May your books fly off the shelves!  Here's to your new adventure!

Thank you, Kate! Exactly my thoughts when I submitted. I figured mixing the two could only be positive.

I think it's a wonderful word and I shall certainly use it myself with your permission.

I like it too! We have a new word! And the word is Indievangelist. Thank you!

Grats! It sounds like you went into the situation with eyes wide open.
Oh yes, I did. There was a little soul searching and a lot of research about this publisher. The more I saw the more I liked. And I noticed that many of their books are ranked high in the charts.

Congrats! I was a hybrid, now I'm back in the indie world.

I think you have the right approach here. I learned a great deal from the experience.

Thank you. Yes, it's the learning new stuff I'm enjoying the most. I think working with an editor who does a thorough content edit is the best way to learn how to get the plot and characters right.

I'm looking forward to following this new project of yours. Please keep us posted with the good, the bad, the challenging, etc., along the way.

I will! I wrote a little post about them on my blog if you want more information. https://susannefromsweden.wordpress.com/2018/01/15/suddenly-hybrid-mixing-trad-with-indie/

Good for you! It's a fantastic achievement to sign up with a traditional publisher, and if you encounter any pompous indievangelists, don't let them rain on your parade, as you can be fairly confident their grapes are decidedly soured. ;)

Thank you. I haven't encountered any sour grapes yet. I was delighted with the congrats from fellow authors.
