It's a mystery- Something is wrong. As Lance Underphal pads softly across the cold flagstone, he hears her weeping. She is on her knees, hunched over in the middle of the room, her back to him, facing the dark fireplace. Something is very wrong. Lance wants to rush to her, but can't. In a hoarse whisper, he says, "Callie?" She lets out a mournful wail from deep within as she turns, their infant son in her arms, blue and still. He reels from the blow. How can this be? They don't have a son.

We all get them. You grit your teeth, say something rude under your breath and move on.

I'm not in KU. But there is a huge difference between the sales graph and the month-to-date today. Sales graph: 0, Month-to-date: 20.

Is it 'fixed?' Not as far as I can tell.

And since doctors are now saying that sitting too much is worse for your health than smoking, write standing up! Alternatively,  write in 30 minute sprints, then run around the house for 5 minutes before sitting down again.

Perfect! That's actually what I do all the time. I write for twenty-thirty minutes and then I get up to do a bit of ironing, or tidying up or whatever. I thought that was a bad thing, but now I realise it's good.

I just read this article in a Swedish newspaper about how to stay healthy into old age. There were ten points; the usual ones, exercise, eat lots of fruit and veg, stay away from fast food and sugar and don't drink too much (how much is too much?), but right at the top was:

Love your job.

And our main job is writing. Soo... the more you write the healthier you'll be! Good news, don't you think?

I recently ordered 20 author copies from Createspace. They arrived a few days ago, three weeks ahead of the scheduled time quoted on my order. I'm in Ireland.

Other than that, anything I've ordered from Amazon lately has arrived right on time (but I get it from Amazon UK, even though Ireland is not in the UK, but that's another matter). My sales figures seem correct too, but I'm not in KU and haven't been in over two years.

I have a feeling the glitch, or whatever it is, is happening to KU books.

7
What about those weird tooth flossing reviews I got and other authors too? I got 120 of them. Could that also have been something to do with the broken Amazon machine?

8
I remember notices like this before - but never one that lasted so long. Does anyone else remember if its ever been up for this long before?

No. And I have been with KDP nearly eight years.

9
What is AMS?

AMAZON!!! And they're not on my list of the cleverest people on the planet right now.

10
Fecking hell! (Irish for- you know what) That sign is still up for days now, reporting is still all wrong. And this from the biggest player in the world of electronic gadgets and everything else.  Maybe they need an 11-year-old? Mine just fixed my computer in thirty seconds.

Not terribly impressed with Ams right now.

11
It's wonky for the last couple of weeks. Maybe they're fixing it. Hope so.

Writers' Cafe / Re: Amazon Earnings Report Dashboard Not Accurate

Susanne...the system was lagging and glitchy for a few days. The 'Goodreads Giveaways' were miscoded--an error. If you download the excel sheet of your sales you will see they have your normal royalty next to them.
Viperous-- You have more sales on your December month-to-date than on the dashboard because  some of your sales at the end of the month cleared later because of the glitches.  On the 30th, I had over 20 orders that seemed not to have cleared. They all appeared yesterday and today in December's report.

So they didn't give away 57 copies of my book? Those were sales?

Yikes! That's not just a hiccup in the system when your book isn't even enrolled in KU.  :o That's a total system's meltdown! Amazon really needs to get their act together, because this is ridiculous!

Should I contact them and ask what they mean?

I have 'free units promo' for 57 copies of a book. But I haven't done a promo for that one and I'm not in KU with any of my books.

That's worse than mine! I also got a fishy e-mail with links, but then it got fixed about a day after that.

I'm sure they'll do something now.

Can't believe they're still there.

This is really weird, and I wonder whether there's something dodgy going on, given that it's happened twice this week. I see both products in question are personal grooming products. I wonder if there's a connection?

Are they trying to tell us something? Do my teeth look...unflossed?

LOL!  Been thinking about playing with this, like, a mystery so thrilling...you'll need a comforting wax afterward?   :D

Doesn't everyone?

I would totally play with this. I put a post on my Facebook page, quoting some of the reviews. Got a lot of laughs, and my sales seemed to improve as a result.

I meant to tell you not to worry, this is Amazon's problem, not yours. This is not something they can punish you for. It'll be fine and they'll apologize  in the end.

Hmm... I wonder if that hair wax kit is good? Sounds like it would whisk away all those little hairs in seconds. With the teeth flossing thingy, I'd be in perfect shape for my holiday! :)

Interesting.  Might email them again.  Can only call them Mon-Fri.  Go figure.

Well, try Thanksgiving. Like a graveyard.

Hi Susanne, thanks for chiming in.  I read your thread, and will keep an eye out for suspicious emails.  Also, maybe I should call them.  (looks for phone number)

If you're in the US, you can call them. But not if you're in the UK, or Ireland, like me. What got a reaction was the subject line I put in my last e-mail (in capitals): REVIEW ABUSE

That got me a response within a couple of hours.

I don't think it was about paperbacks. It was also on my kindle page. In any case, after three e-mails to KDP, it got fixed. But it took two days.

BUT... do beware of an e-mail supposedly from Amazon, asking you to click on links to verify your account. I got one, but deleted it immediately

Title of my next book: Bleeding of the Guns.

Now that Susanne's book page is no longer haunted by these reviews, I hope it's okay that I laughed like a hyena and scared both the cat and the rabbit.

I'm glad you had fun with it. So did I (when I wasn't swearing)!

Glad they've gone. Hoping it works out to your advantage.

Thank you, Sam.

I still think this is a crisis/opportunity thing. Grab it. It could go viral like the three wolves shirt. Visibility! Who can read those reviews and not laugh? FB/Twitter post: My book is not a flosser!! Aargh!

Of course I did. You're obviously not one of my FB friends or you would have seen it. But thanks for the suggestion. It didn't go viral but I got a few laughs and some sales too.

AND THE REVIEWS ARE GONE!!!!!!!! Plus I got brand new 5 * one for the book, not the flosser.

Thank you all for the support and suggestions!
