A ruthless murder and a stolen shipment of gold.

At school, sixteen-year-old Nikaia Wales endures the taunts of bullies who call her a “half-breed.” At home, she worries about how her family will react if she reveals her growing feelings for the quiet boy next door.

Those are soon the least of her troubles. Nikaia discovers a hidden cache of gold, and when police find a corpse nearby, her father becomes a suspect. Worse, Elias Doyle is circling, hungry to avenge his brother’s death.

Nikaia desperately searches for clues to save her father. In her quest to find the killer, she learns about the power of family, friendship, and young love....

Honestly, I'm envious of those of you who have a 'signficant other' to walk or ride with.

My dogs are always ready to go for a walk, and I don't like to disappoint them - but I think it'd be nice to be able to look forward to taking a walk with my non-canine partner on an evening.

To anyone experiencing some success: keep it up! You're an inspiration to a lot of folks, even if they don't post to say so.

While not exactly what I'd want, I'm aware that I'm not the grand vizier of your messageboard :P

Your solution helps me out, and I say: Thank you, sir

...My grandfather bought one from a street vendor in New York (and Southern people have a reputation as gullible yokels.  Ha!), and it loses like 20 minutes every day.  At the end of ten days, he's back in last week.

 :D

I believe I read somewhere that the 'Ersatz' was the best model money can buy. One day maybe I'll have one *hopefully looking into the future*

My personal favorite is the Vijagra and the Free Rolodexes.  Woo hoo!

  • You're right - that's a good one
  • The thing I don't get about an email like that: Someone, somewhere is running a business. He's trying to get people to buy his items. Does he really think that people who need Vijagra also need Free Rolodexes?

I mean...they couldn't figure out how to purchase Vijagra without being randomly notifed via email. Obviously, they hadn't managed to keep the number for their Dojctor or their pharjmacy. How useful will the rolodex be?

Now, if we could only find me a keyboard with a 'give me 100 replies per page' button, then I'd be well contented.

well, I'd be contented.

OK - I'd find something else to b*tch about, but leave me alone about it, will you? I'm just a man. I have flaws.

well, I can't speak for everyone here, but I know that I personally wasnt thinking anything sexual when I thought about herding cats.

well...I wasn't before you posted. thanks for ruining an innocent moment of cat-related jockularity  ;)

Jack, I want a link to the websites that you visit to get your email address on those spam lists. Please start with 'fun for u'.   ;D

It's the usual....your basic hardcore republican sites, fundamentalist religious sites, etc   :P

...  I worked with pilots for years, which is a little like trying to herd cats, but without the possibility of results.

Robin, once again with comedy gold  :D

whoohoo!

'Hello, Cleveland!'

& I believe that I've found the best 'name for a new band' that I've ever seen in the subject line of a piece of spam.

What do you think?

I believe that I would go see them, if they came to my town to play.....they sound like a very hip group.

Take a look subjects of the email in your own spam filter....do any of them sound like band names?

Post your own!

I agree - what about the illitir....the illiteray....

what about the people that can't count? Surely, someone will stand up for them?

Hi Kelly. I think I just sent you a PM (not sure because I don't see a copy in my outbox for some reason)

I figured I'd drop you a line here, too....I think I'd like to purchase one of your refurbished Kindles, but am not certain about payment.....you can't do paypal? I'd think that would be the quickest/most secure way - please send me a PM when you're able.

So... Jack-o... how did you get your ship date to update?

Well, I called Jeff Bezos and asked him to 'please hurry it up'. He usually jumps when I say 'jump'.

p.s. I'm totally kidding - I have no idea why my ship date would change, but others would not. I'm sorry I don't have better info  :-\

I have signed up to be notified if any refurbs are released. Actually....I signed up to be notified about refurbs on the same day I became a member here. Since that time, I've seen people say that they got an email telling them a refurb was available - but I've never seen one of those. Does anyone know how those emails work?

p.s.s. If you tell me to call Jeff Bezos - I suppose I deserve that  :D

...it turns out I am a huge liar.

the fact that (in most of the threads that I read) I've got to find that little 'page number' in the bottom left ...probably multiple times in a good thread... is actually wildly irritating to me. There's just no quick way to do it.

this might be because it's so late & I cant sleep & my alarm goes off for work in 3.5 hours, or it might not.

I'm one of those people that sets google search to display 100 results so I dont have to go paging around to find what im looking for, so it's possible im really different than everyone else.

OK - going to try going to sleep again. night :p

I'll usually take at least a peek at any new show HBO makes, since so much of the original programming they make seems to be worth watching, to me.

I hadn't heard of the southern vampire series at all up until that point. I was probably halfway through the season before I realized that this show was based on at least one book! So I went hunting...

I looked through two libraries near me, & couldn't find any of Charlaine's books, so I ended up getting two of them in audiobook form, online - I was entertained by them. I believe they were the first two.
