« on: May 21, 2014, 10:07:02 AM »
Hi, all!

I've put up a book on Babelcube for translation and have had an offer to translate by a German translator. They've included a sample page of translation and was wondering if anyone who spoke fluent German would have time to compare it to the original text. I'm very happy to pay for your time!

Thanks so much :) xx

She escapes through deserted woods with her life, but no one believes her story.

And when she suspects her husband is lying to her, Chloe is forced to retrace her past, following in her own footsteps to find the truth and stay alive.

But who is following Chloe?

Look Behind You. You never know who's out there.

I've noticed since they've been doing this my sales have gone down about 10%!!  :-\

I didn't know about this, but Amazon is offering shoppers a way to give a portion of every purchase to their favorite charity! It's a fantastic idea :)

« on: October 26, 2013, 10:59:17 AM »
Just sharing some info re a Bargain Booksy Ad I just did which cost $50 in case anyone's thinking of doing one. I broke even overnight with Fourteen Days Later and the book was sitting at #1,088 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#2 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Humor & Entertainment > Humor > Parenting & Families
#4 in Books > Humor & Entertainment > Humor > Parenting & Families
#13 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Romance > Inspirational

It's now:
#940 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#2 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Humor & Entertainment > Humor > Parenting & Families
#3 in Books > Humor & Entertainment > Humor > Parenting & Families
#8 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Romance > Inspirational

So not too shabby! And I expect more sales from it today (hopefully!). Not quite as good as Bookbub, but it's a lot cheaper and pretty good results still :) xx

Writers' Cafe / Finding a good translator
« on: June 29, 2013, 11:43:04 PM »
Hi, everyone, I've been thinking about getting one of my books translated into German/Spanish/French. Have any of you hired a translator and do you have any recommendations of where to find a good one? One of the main problems is making sure they do a good job, since I can't speak those languages, apart from a few swear words!

Any help mucho appreciated :)

Writers' Cafe / US Tax returns for non US authors
« on: March 20, 2013, 12:06:36 AM »
Are there any tax people out there who could help with this as I'm getting conflicting information about whether we need to file a US tax return with a treaty form, even though I', not due to pay any tax because I have the EIN. As I understand it, the companies who pay us royalties after we submit the W8BEN send us a 1042S form, and I've been told I'll need to send that, along with a US tax return form and treaty form to the IRS. Is that a requirement?

Thanks so much for your help :)

Indie Authors for Hurricane Sandy Libraries, a group established in November 2012 by author K. S. Brooks, is appealing for books to help restock libraries that have been damaged by Hurricane Sandy:

Hi, everyone!

I'm just introducing my new gluten free/wheat free soup cookbook:

Whether you’re looking for a tasty starter, a light lunch, or a hearty dinner, there’s nothing quite like a nutritious bowl of soup. In the second book from Sibel Hodge’s gluten free cookbook series, A Gluten Free Soup Opera takes you on an international culinary journey, bringing you a delicious bowl of goodness for any occasion. All of the 30 recipes included are gluten and wheat free, and most also have dairy free and vegetarian/vegan options included.

Looking for a Christmas Day starter? Try Festive Chestnut Soup. If you’re running low on time, Butter Bean and Pancetta Soup or Greek Pork and Lemon Soup will take 20 minutes to cook. For a filling dinner, Rustic Leek and Potato or Hearty Lamb and Green Bean Soup fits the bill. African Peanut Soup, Moroccan Sweet and Sour Soup, or Chilli Bean Soup are the ultimate in winter warmers. Pistachio Soup and Seafood Soup will impress your guests at a dinner party. And for a light lunch, choose Chinese Chicken Noodle Soup or Broccoli and Parmesan Soup.

A Gluten free diet doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice taste. Today it can be eclectic, vibrant, and adventurous. After cooking for her coeliac husband for over a decade, author Sibel Hodge gives you the ultimate in mouth-watering and healthy recipes, which can easily be prepared using ingredients from your store cupboard or local supermarket.

Who says gluten free cooking has to be boring?

Experiment. Eat. Enjoy!
