1) A King of Infinite Space by Tyler Dilts- I really enjoy crime/mystery/thrillers and this looks like a really good read from the reviews.

2) Pink cover.

Not Quite Kindle / Re: Face Book Games

Is Farmtown different than Farmville? I played Farmville for a bit but guess since none of my "friends" were playing it was a bit boring and I really don't like to pick up "random" friends.
Although I'm willing to add any Kindleboard members as friends.  Right now I play Mafiawars and Bejeweled blitz.  Please send me a pm if interested in adding me on FB.

The eggs are awesome, great job, all done and sent my pm!

I hope I'm not too late, I would love to have my name entered.  Those bags are great!

What is significant about Jamie catching the fish for Claire?

Shows that he can provide for her.

Chapter 17 "We Meet a Beggar"

1. How has Jamie and Claire's relationship changed since their wedding?

Before the wedding they would flirt a bit but were still a bit shy, and now after the wedding itís a bit harder to be shy when they have been intimate.

Chapter 18 "Raiders in the Rocks"

2. Do you feel Jamie is taking advantage of Claire by sleeping with her after the skirmish (when the men are nearby)?

No, I believe that this type of thing is to be expected in this time.

3. How did you feel about Claire's training in the art of how to dirk a man?

Somewhat surprised as I wouldnít think they would teach many women how to fight or protect themselves

Chapter 19 "The Waterhorse"

4. Why was this incident at Loch Ness significant to the story?

Not sure

Chapter 20 "Deserted Glades"

5. At this point in the story, do you see any significance in Claire receiving a dragonfly in amber from Hugh Munro along with a poem?

I didnít at the time but Gertie mentioned it could be symbolic to her being frozen in time, I like that analogy.

6. It is at this point that we learn that Dougal may have been the one to shoot Jamie.  How does this change your feelings toward Dougal, or does it reinforce those feelings?

Iím still not sure what my feelings are for Dougal.  I just have to remember the time period and what he does doesnít surprise me itís just something that was done during that time.

7. When confronted, Claire has to kill a man to prevent him from raping her. Does it seem like this act comes to easy to her?

Yes.  She is a strong woman and this just shows that side of her even more.

8. After beginning to find happiness with Jamie, is it right for her to try to escape to Craigh Na Dun? (Which occurs the day after they are attacked in the glade.)

Iím not sure if right is the word I would use.  She was torn between leaving and hurting Jamie but then again she is not from this time period and going home was her main goal.  Also, I think she was a little mad that Jamie left her behind.

Yeah, that soon! I have a little countdown widget running on my site, and it's spinning down fast.

I hate to see anybody give up on any of the other book klubs, though, but February's going to be tough: Outlander and the Whiskey Rebels will still be going on, then Dead Until Dark will be starting. Of course, if I didn't have to work and could just read, it wouldn't be a problem! LOL!  ;D

I know, I keep buying those lottery tickets but so far not so lucky!

Update:  Gomadic support reports that this was a known issue they have since fixed and they dispatched a new tip to me within minutes of my contacting them.  Whoo hoo.  I'll report a final time when I know if the new tip in fact does fix the issue.

Read this thread yesterday and when I got home my Gomadic charger was waiting for me in my mailbox.  I was a bit worried but the tip worked fine.  Glad to hear that you were able to get them to send you new tip.  Let us know when it you get it.

Oh, no! There goes my reputation!! LOL! ;D

I'll do my best to make it worth your while with free entertainment during the IHN Book Klub! And good grief, that's only 16 days away...!

16 days seriously? That's gonna be here before we know it.  I really want to participate in this, I may have to give up one of the other book klubs..

Wow, so far 12 first timers.  I'm a first timer as well, I figured there were less of us.

I'm also going to try to join in on this klub too.  I'm doing outlander and whiskey rebels but since I already read this book, it might not be that hard to keep out with.  We will see.

My work schedule was a bit busy last week and I really didnít get to join in the discussion of the first 5 chapters, by the time I got a chance to respond the thread was 10 pages long, hopefully this week will be different and Iíll be able to participate a bit more.
Iím still not totally into the book, I think there might be something wrong with me.  I donít know if itís the dialectic or what, but Iím still giving it the olí college try. (I think I may have to go back and reread from the beginning as I was having a lot of difficulty getting through the first 3 chapters and feel that I missed a lot)

1) Why do you think Jamie took the beating for Loaghaire? Iíll be using the phonetic spelling of Laoghaire - Laheer. Did you think it was honorable or foolish?
I personally would not have done it, but I believe Jamie was being Honorable although not really teaching her anything by later kissing in the alcove.

2) Claire seems to have little difficulty "adapting" to castle life in the 18th century. Why do you think this is? What would you find most difficult about adapting?
I agree with Gertieís answer on this one, I think it would have been easier to adapt from Claireís time than it would be from ours.

Chapter Seven - Davie Beaton's Closet

1) Who do you think hit Jamie on the head with an axe?

No clue.

2) Why do you think it was so important to Claire to have a "useful" occupation?
I think in any time of distress itís good to get your mind working and not thinking and dwelling on the past err or the future in this case.

Chapter Eight - An Evening's Entertainment

1) Do you think the "folk-tales" that Gwyllyn tells are all based on actual time travel through the

Yes or at least from Claireís perspective.

2) Claire teases Jamie about kissing Loaghaire in the alcove. Do you think her teasing is based on her growing feelings for him, or is she actually as "disinterested" as she appears?
Iím not sure how Claire feels at this point, I however, was a bit perturbed when it happened.

3) What impressions did you get about Jamie's parents and background based on what he told Claire? Why do you think he told her about his past?

Iím not remembering this, guess I have to go back and reread

Chapter Nine - The Gathering

1) Why do you think Geillie tells Claire that young Hamish is rumored to be Jamie's son? Who did you think was really Hamish's father?

Well since Geillie likes to Gossip, I think she is just trying to push buttons to see what type of reaction she gets.  I think Hamishís father is the brother Dougal

2) What impressions did you get about Geillie's background?
Donít think they really get into her background, other than she is an herbalist and married some old dude who farts a lot.  Iím enjoying this character and hope to see more of her.

3) After Jamie and Claire "rescue" the tanner's lad from the pillory, Jamie calls Claire "Mistress Sassenach". How do you think Claire feels about the nickname?

I donít think it bothers her, I think it goes back to the ďteasingĒ relationship that they have.

Chapter Ten - The Oath Taking

1) Why do you think Jamie decided not to give Colum his oath? What do you think Claire thought when he didn't?

I think Jamieís oath is to his own family and I think Claire was relieved in that nothing bad happened since she was the reason that Jamie was put in that situation.

2) Why do you think Dougal kissed Claire?
Why not? He was drunk, and I think attracted to her and maybe to get a reaction out of her

3) When you read that Claire thought she could get back "home" from Ft. William, were you hoping she would succeed or fail? (your first impression, please!!)

As Claire really wants to get 'Home' at this point, I hoped she would Succeed.  Plus I'd like to see Frank's reaction to her disapperance and her claim as to where she was.

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Question kindle battery
« on: January 11, 2009, 01:33:58 PM »
You might want to look into the battery operated battery charger.  I recently got one after we had a blackout.  With hurricane/tropical storm season coming up, I wanted to be sure to have a power source for Little Gertie.

It's $19.95, but worth it for my peace of mind.  There are also solar chargers available, but Amazon has yet to endorse one, so I'll wait on that.

Thanks for the link Gertie, I could have used this the other day when we lost power after a thunderstorm, and this will definitely come in handy during Hurricane Season.

Warning: This title contains the following: lots of explicit sex, going strong long after the cows come home, graphic language that'd make your mama blush, light bondage with bullropes, menage-a-trois, and -- yee-haw! -- hot nekkid cowboy man-love.

Sounds like a fun weekend  :o

I received my M-Edge cover for Christmas however, the light isn't due to arrive till the end of January!  Thanks for the reviews I really like the M-Edge cover and now am extremely anxious for the light!

I'm in and really looking forward to this starting.  This is my first book klub also.  I started the book, but haven't really gotten in to it yet, but I'm plunging forward since everyone is raving about how good it is.

Can anyone recommend any good zombie, contagion/plague-based, or apocalyptic styled horror?  Just downloaded Infected and loving it so far.  I tend to like the survival horror genre I guess, not so much of the supernatural stuff (okay zombies don't count, zombies tend to have a different feel to them then other monster/supernatural based books).  I have been having a very "its the end of the world as we know it" week... aka finals are next week :D

Just finished this book that was recommended in the bargin book thread.  It fits some of your criteria, walking dead, apocalyptic style, interesting read.

I haven't looked at the d/l copy from amazon yet, but the product details section on amazon states that the book is 752 pages, the pdf version link is only 243 pages. If what Cat says is true then I don't think it's the entire book.

Ok, there should be some kind of warning before these stories, i.e., Warning this thread may cause some people to shed a tear or two.  I can't be all watery eyed here at work, when I'm supposed to be working, and then having the coworkers ask if I'm o.k.

However, I'm so glad you are enjoying your Kindle and your memories of home Atunah.

I thought this was going to be a thread wherein Harvey got his Christmas Kindle early!! :(
Anyway, glad you got to experience it and wishing that there be a Kindle under your tree.

And thanks again for these boards!! :D

Woo hoo, Congrats on receiving your kindle!

hmmm all of a sudden i'm not feeling so good, I think I'm coming down with something... I'm sorry boss but I just came down with Kindleitis and i've got to go home and cuddle up in my bed with my kindle.  ---- think he'll go for it???

Worth a try! :D

Congrats Vamp, glad it was the kindle and not the tshirts.

I also noticed my cover only seems to have to notches that cover the inside corners of the Kindle.  Is that normal?  I though it had 3/
The cover that comes with the kindle only has the 2 notches at the inside corners.  I don't mind the original cover, once I figured out how to get the lil tab to hook to the back of the kindle, it's actually pretty secure.  Although I am hoping for a m-edge cover for Christmas.

again glad it's finally here and now you get to enjoy it :D

Well it looks like UPS finally made the delivery for Vamp.  I'm anxiously waiting his next post.
