Seriously though, thanks for the kind words--I really appreciate them. To anyone considering putting any time into a podcast, I would say: know what the rewards will be, and work for them. The biggest reward from The Book Speaks Podcast, by far, has been networking like this with such an excellent community. Y'all are the best!
Now if only I could write as consistently... (back to the keyboard... dragons and vampires and witches and spaceships and things to type about
)

I love Book Report. I want to thank you for developing this amazing tool, which makes the viewing of our data so much FUN. But at the end of the day, it is more fun than useful for me. I've been thinking all along that $10 was a bit high for a collection of data that already exists for me on my KDP dashboard--albeit presented much more effectively via your service. I think you're doing a wonderful job with the software, but I'm adding my voice to say that $19 is beyond my reach. I totally understand the real world needs of servers and overhead, and I wish you nothing but the best!

Space Fantasy FTW. I'm in love with Chris Fox's new series, The Magitech Chronicles, and it isn't even because it's by Chris Fox

Fantasy will never die. It may wax and wane in the mainstream, but it will always have a devoted core following.
And all the millennials who’ve graduated from college and are working jobs now and can buy books, and who grew up on Harry Potter and P. Jackson’s LOTR film adaptations... I think even mainstream fantasy will be golden for a while. Decades, easy. It’s in our blood.

I’d agree that LitRPG, Space Fantasy, and Reverse Harem all seem to be having moments. Of the three I predict R. Harem will prove most lucrative.
Mark Coker was on the SFFM Podcast a couple of weeks ago, and said that Romance—>Fantasy is looking hot right now in Smashwords data.
EDIT: may have been Fantasy—>Romance. Will have to listen to be sure; he either said romantic fantasy or fantasy romance, and I can’t quite recall off the cuff.

I don’t know Shayne or the exact rules RE: keywords in a product description, but I just had a look and there was nothing that gave me pause. The cover and blurb both seem super legit, so assuming the book is also good, that’s what I’d attribute his success to.

I know there has been a crackdown on keyword-stuffed title fields in the past, but this is the first time I’ve heard any stink about blurbs. Seems like it would be awfully difficult to discern an author’s intention. I think a case could be made that the example here might not be intentionally “stuffed” at all; they may just be very thorough.

Since the indie folk I hear discussing blockchain the most are J Penn and Orna Ross, and since I tend to associate both with unbridled futurist optimism, the skeptic in me wants to say, “eh, we’ll see” about the whole blockchain thing.
But the one idea I’ve heard that resonates as likely to me is that, in the event of blockchain technology becoming a primary currency factor, Amazon will probably acquire, rather than be toppled by, said technology. And I mean Amazon as a whole. How much of that might trickle down the the KDP system... who

I like your voice! Agree that it’s all too fast and may be a touch too monotone. As a listener I’m also a little bothered by the amount of background noise, but I don’t know how much that would matter to the average YouTube viewer.

I do like the look of 2 and 3 more than 1--prolly has to do with them having some stardust behind the ships.
If you're MARRIED to "green," I might suggest something a little darker or warmer. The green in the series title as it stands seems out of place to me. But meh. Better than my covers!
