Writers' Cafe / Re: How To Get Affordable Professional Covers

my cover was pre-made by a professional designer and I don't regret it at all. =]
It actually fit the theme perfectly and was exactly what I needed! It was as if the cover was MADE for my book. The artist had a ton of different work that catered to a ton of different themes and a slew of characters. And I also purchased one of Dara's covers, which I love. So hey, different strokes for different folks! :D

I'm happy it worked for you.

Think back to when you first started frequenting bookstores and libraries. What compelled you to pick out a particular book and leaf through it? Oftentimes, it was the cover. The cover is a physical manifestation, a “promise”, if you will, of what will be found inside. A reader has absolutely no way of knowing whether a book will be good or bad before they read it, but something needs to draw their attention.
Recently there has been a trend for pre-made book covers. Why spend months, sometimes years, of personal effort and dedication on a book, just to have the exact same cover as someone else? How can the reader differentiate? And worse, what if the identical cover contained an awful book, and it hinders your sales?
I understand that buying a custom book cover can be expensive. But it is an investment. I charge $350 for my covers, but I offer 100% satisfaction guarantee. I design eye-catching, professional covers, custom made to fulfill the author’s wants and needs. It is very important to me that the author go on to sell a lot of books. One of my clients, Debbie Mack, is now in the top-ten bestselling authors for Kindle UK.
By using my services you will get value for your money. I am very fast - covers are usually delivered, with changes, within one week. I am a good communicator, and your email will be replied to right away. I am happy to work with you whether you have a vision or whether you want to hand over the creative reigns to me. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about a possible project. Please feel free to email me: peter@peterratcliffe.com

Thank you, authors, for your kind consideration.

Dara,

I strongly disagree with your suggestion for those design shops.
PRE-MADE covers????!!!! What are the chances that you will find one or more other books being sold with the same art?
As a creative myself, I believe in originality. A unique artwork for a unique Author. Is their anyone out there with the same finger print? No. So be unique, get your wallet out and hire a designer like myself. My price guarantees books leaving the shelves. Like a client of mine, Debbi Mack's Least Wanted, Top 10 in Amazon UK this month.
There are so many more advantages to work with me for instance, full attention, speed, immidiate feedback and a great value for money.

Please feel free to check out my work at www.peterratcliffe.com - I have been working in ad agencies in São Paulo and London for 10 years and now am focusing on freelancing from home. Sonn I shall add more recent covers.

thank you all Authors in advance
