Fire Talk / Re: How To Manage On Deck ?
« on: February 01, 2017, 04:36:56 PM »
I have managed to download items to OnDeck.  I first deleted everything that was downloaded on my Fire and then inserted a 32GB mini SD card. You then navigate to the videos that you want to download. From there you can begin downloading. I have 10 episodes from season 1 [each about 50 minutes in length] of the Man In The High Castle, and also a full length 2 hour movie downloaded. That totals about 620 minutes or about 10 hours of content. I then received a message that I had reached my download limit, and that I must delete something to be able to add more video. I am not sure if that limit is limited to a total in minutes or number of episodes, but with a 32GB SD card, you should be able to download much more video, so it is an Amazon limit - not storage size limit.
Downloading video is painfully slow, perhaps due to the slow processor in the Fire. But hey, what do you expect for 49 bucks ? I think it's amazing that this cheap little tablet could be used to watch about 10 hours of content on a trip.

Fire Talk / How To Manage On Deck ?
« on: January 14, 2017, 10:52:14 AM »
I have a cheapo 7" Fire that I carry in my car, and just added a 32GB SD card to it. I am a remember of Prime. My internet speed is not good at home, and is non-existent when I'm a passenger in my car on road trips. I'd like to be able to add some video for future viewing to my Fire using the On Deck feature. But, I cannot figure out how to add to, remove from, or manage any of the On Deck content. If anyone has any knowledge of this, I would appreciate your help. Thanks !

Thanks !
That works; I just hope I am deleting them only from my Fire and not from my "in the cloud" collection =)

I still have this stored in my closet; I use my Fire for reading now.
Does anyone want to propose a trade ?

I cant figure out how to remove books that have been downloaded to my Fire.
I don't want to delete them permanently, just from the device.
Thanks in advance for any help =)

Fire Talk / Re: How to clear Silk browser
« on: July 01, 2016, 08:48:32 PM »
On my Fire HD6 running OS 5.1.2, I tap the three horizontal lines on the upper left, select Settings, choose Privacy, Clear Browsing Data, and then select the specific items to clear. I hope that helps.

Thank you DreamWeaver ! That did the trick :)

I have a 5th generation Fire running OS 5.1.4.
I cannot figure out how to delete the Silk browser history, cookies, cache, etc etc.
Under settings there is no obvious choice.
Help please =)

I just updated my Kindle keyboard.
Would anyone like to make a trade for it, along with my purple Oberon cover ?
Id love to get an iPad mini or Fire HD and could throw in some cash :)

I think the Kindle is 3rd generation - how does one tell ?  :)
The Kindle has the free 3G internet access feature.
I would prefer to sell the cover and Kindle together.

Thanks !

Thank you kindly for the offer, however I must decline it.
I don't know a lot about what used 3G Kindles sell for, and know even less about the Oberon covers.
Nevertheless, I'd like to get $100 for this, including Priority Mail shipment.
Any less than that and it will remain in my nightstand and be taken out and admired once in awhile.
The purple cover truly looks and feels amazing.

I have a mint condition Kindle keyboard for sale.
It's the version that has WiFi and the free 3G.
The Kindle itself is white, and has a purple skin on the front and back.
It is in perfect mint condition with no bumps, scratches, dents, dings, or blemishes of any kind.
The case is an Oberon purple paisley.
The case has been very well taken care of and shows very little, if any, wear.

I will accept payment via PayPal or an iTunes gift card.

Please make an offer =)

Fire Talk / Re: How to transfer MOBI files to a Kindle Fire
« on: October 07, 2013, 04:05:12 PM »
Thanks Ann !

The send to Kindle program seems to work very well.
It's weird; I never had a problem copying files over to my Kindle Touch or Kindle Keyboard, but could not get that method to work for the Fire.

And Ann, I must mention that I share your disappointment regarding the Nats.
I had $100 on them to win the World Series !
For them to not even make the playoffs is a shocker.

Thanks again ....

I have had no problem transferring mobi files/books onto a Kindle Keyboard and a Kindle Touch.
I hook up the Kindle to my computer with the USB to mini USB cord, and the computer recognizes the Kindle as a drive.
I then just copy and paste what I want to transfer into the DOCUMENTS folder.

But, this does not seem work with the Kindle Fire ! What am I doing wrong ?

Also, can you have "collections" on books on the Fire like you can on the Kindle Keyboard and Touch ?
I'd like to keep all authors together in a collection: ie: Clancy, King, etc etc ....

Thanks in advance folks =)

I have purchased an iPad and a Kindle Fire from kwajkat. Both items were packaged very well, arrived very quickly, and were in perfect 10/10 mint condition.

I 100% recommend her to all board members looking for used gadgets.

Here's an update and a question.
An Amazon customer service person called me and asked me to create and email them some log files, which I did. I got this email back:

Thanks for sending us your Kindle log files. We appreciate you taking the time to send these to us in order to help diagnose the issue. Your message has been automatically forwarded to the correct recipients.
This e-mail address is used solely for obtaining device logs, if you have an issue unrelated to the log files you have sent, please contact Kindle customer service by phone or email using the Contact Us option on the right side of the Kindle Support pages at:

I did ask if my Fire was under warranty and it - surprisingly - is, for about 7 more days. My question is this: why am I having to go thru all of this troubleshooting if the Fire is still under warranty ?  Should I ask them to just send me a refurbished replacement ?

I love the Zaggs and have them on all my devices. The key to a smooth, no bubble install - at least for me - is to use LOTS of the provided solution. I always plug a headphone in before installing so that no moisture will get down in there and therefore [on Apple stuff anyway] void the warranty.

I've installed 10 or so and while my results are satisfactory, if you want it to go on perfectly, take the Zagg and your device to BestBuy and pay them the $9.95 - $14.95 to install it. The Zagg I have on my iPad 3 that they installed was done so well you cant tell it's on there.

Take it to another WiFi ( like a neighbor's or Starbucks ).  If it doesn't work there it's your Kindle, if it does work, it's your Router.

Great idea !
I actually found an old StarBucks gift card in my glove compartment last week and it still had $22 on it. So off I went.

I had an amazing piece of coffeecake and a large coffee. I could eat thier coffeecake every morning ! Mmmmmmm.

My Fire would say connected while inside but still had only the dot and one arc bar.

I think I've pretty much determined that is the Fire and not the wifi.
