It is on it's way from Down Under  :P

I'm not asking if you think they should lose or if governmnet is actually a diabolical organization bent on the destruction of mankind, just if you think they will lose the seat.

Not Quite Kindle / Information about Washington D. C.
« on: January 17, 2010, 10:20:29 PM »
I was accepted into American University recently and though I have been to D. C. twice, I am intensely uncertain about living there. I'm not scared of being physically harmed, just of not knowing anything of actual use about the city.

So I need information about living in D. C. For background - I live in a town in East Texas with just over 2,000 people. I've visited major cities all over the U. S. so I have seen life beyond the cow pasture, but visiting and living are two completely different concepts. The information I need pertains to subjects such as: Where do you buy groceries (I live in Walmart and Brookshires land), how does the metro work, where are places I should never set foot in, how late is it to stay out...anything you might think of use.

Thank you for any responses, it is most helpful.

Introductions & Welcomes / Hello from Texas
« on: January 16, 2010, 06:11:03 PM »
Hello, I'm Kristyana.

Senior in high school, member of the debate team, and was accepted into American University in Washington D. C. the week before Christmas.

My Kindle 2, whom I have dubbed Czar, was a Christmas present that I asked for only after researching anything and everything about eReaders for months. I'm a Machead and was going to wait for the iSlate/iTablet, but the Kindle enchanted me.

At the risk of starting another "I want an Oberon cover" thread, here is my case.

I have a M-Edge Platform (Cream and Saddle) that has been used for one week. I purchased the Platform model because of the clean look and so I could stand it up. I have discovered that I simply don't utilize the standing up feature enough (at all really) to warrant keeping the case when I could return it and buy an Oberon. The look had the intended effect, I've received many compliments.

If anyone is in want of this particular case and is willing to part with an Oberon Roof of Heaven, PM me and we can trade, with me paying some money for the difference.

If not, I'll just send the case back to Amazon and go from there. Thank you  :)

Let's Talk Kindle! / Washington Post Subscription Question
« on: January 10, 2010, 07:18:25 PM »
I had a free trial of the Washington Post and accidentally didn't cancel before the trial was over. (I should have canceled it on the ninth, but was at debate tournament.) I canceled a day after the trial was over. In my cancelation email it said, "If you are past your free trial period, you will stop receiving new issues immediately and a refund for the remaining balance of your subscription will be issued if applicable."

When I googled whether the refund was applicable to the Washington Post, I found a webpage from the Boston Globe stating that they did not have any partial refunds. I could not find any information on the Washington Post, so my question is if the refund is applicable to the Post.
