A test seems fair. I'm not ready for that yet, but I'm sure you'll meet others here.  ;)

Fair enough. Nice chatting with you.

Welcome Albert. I will be looking for an editor for my next book. But I need someone who's had a lot of experience in editing fiction.

Have you edited a fair amount of fiction? And do you have genre preferences?

Thank you,
Suzanne

I don't have preferences, although I'd lean toward historical fiction myself if it comes to personal choices for reading. I'd rather not get involved with CF - no offense to those who write/read it. My background is in editing magazines (all now defunct) and books in the art, craft and architecture fields.  The only fiction I've edited was the single book by Ruth Francisco, whose recommendation is on my profile page - oh! it appears below. She seemed happy. All I can suggest is a test of - what? - 50 to 100 pages?

People have mentioned that the fee seems high, but when you think about how labor-intensive editing is, I don't think this is exorbitant.  Especially if the editor is high qualified.

Welcome to Kindleboards, btw...

Why, *thank you, Mira! Much appreciated.

I'll second that.  I mean no offense when I say your fees are high for somebody not offering more about your background.  No website?  No names of publishers?

If you could list those people may show more interest.

Thanks for the suggestions ... and no offense taken. My website is indeed listed on my profile page - http://www.berkshiresbest.com ... as for my fees being too high, well ... what can I say?

Best regards,

Albert

Albert, welcome!  Great to have you on. Look forward to having someone with your experience in mainstream publishing around here.  As Jason /forever said, it would help if you gave a bit of background ...
Good luck!
Gabriela

Thanks, Gabriela. My profile includes, I think, the background you're looking for, but my web page - http://www.berkshiresbest.com - is more complete.
