Fire Talk / Re: How Many Books On Your Fire?
« on: June 12, 2013, 09:01:38 AM »
I read basically every book on the Fire (with a few exceptions for dead tree books that I still haven't read, but own.

I guess I'm asking if anyone finds the 8.9 Fire too big or heavy to read on.

Does anyone read "regular" books on the 8.9 Fire?  Or do you use it mostly for cookbooks, magazines, movies, etc.?

Has anyone seen this movie yet?  It looks interesting.

WWII romances are one of my favorite genres.  I'm going to check it out.  Thanks!   :)

The Book Corner / Pre-ordering ebooks

Is there an advantage to pre-ordering?  Sometimes I'm tempted, but I know I probably won't get around to reading it for awhile, and by then the price will have probably dropped.  Does anyone do this?

I'm can buy and download; I have movies on my Fire that I bought...

I'm confused, too.  I watched a movie on my Fire on my flight home from San Diego last year.

Mary Stewart's King Arthur series, THE King Arthur series, now neatly packaged as Legacy for Kindle.
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein; for those who like a little philosophy mixed in with fantasy.
Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights; spooky atmosphere and truly horrible characters.
Marlys Millhiser's The Mirror, an underrated urban fantasy novel that once read is never forgotten.

I second "The Mirror".  It's one of my favorite books.

The Mirror by Marlys Millhiser.  Unfortunately it's not available for Kindle.

I really got hooked on Breaking Bad.  I can't wait for the finale this summer.

Not Quite Kindle / Re: Please name your favorite Twilight Zone and why

One of the cable channels, I think it's the SciFi channel, does a marathon every year of "Twilight Zone" episodes.  I think it's on New Years Day, but I'm not sure.  I always try to catch some of it.  My favorite one is "Eye of the Beholder" because I think it was the first one I ever saw and I was very young.  It left a lasting impression!

Misty, I do believe I had to sign for my iPad mini, but maybe you could call Apple's customer service when you order and explain the situation.  They may have a solution for you.  Also, I absolutely love my iPad mini.  I can text my kids (I don't have good reception here for cell phones) and I can do Facetime with my little granddaughter. (They all have Apple products).

The only thing that I noticed I can't do is borrow books from Amazon...that's for Kindle owners only.  But you can still borrow from your library.

I read The House Next Door way back when it first came out.  I remember it being a great story.  I might have to read it again.  It's been a long time. I'd also like to try some of the others.

Heaven has a beautiful new angel.  Rest in peace, Annette.

I'm adding some of them to my wishlist, so that I can be selective and choose a "few" later.  I think I'm in so much trouble.   :o

If it's the King that wrote the original Shining, Salem's Lot, Cujo, Firestarter, The Dead Zone, Christine, IT, Misery, TommyKnockers, and anything else before Tommyknockers, then I'm looking forward to it.

If it's the King that wrote Duma Key, Lisey's Story, From a Buick 8, and the last four Dark Tower books, then....I'm so not interested.

(Did like "Under the Dome' though)

Funny, I don't think I've read anything of his after "Tommyknockers", except for a couple of short stories.

The Book Corner / Re: Do you genre hop or stick to one?
« on: April 04, 2013, 04:56:34 PM »
I have a few genres that I hop around among.  I set up my collections so that I could pick something depending on my mood, but I accidentally lost my collections when I sold my kindles and bought an iPad mini.  I thought they'd be saved in the kindle app or cloud, but doesn't seem to be the case.  So I'm starting over.   :(  Love the iPad mini, though.   ;D

I've never tried the Gelaskin.  I'll have to check them out.

Has anyone put a Decal girl skin on their iPad mini?  I never put one on my Fire, but I'm thinking I might like one on my mini.  I bought the Caudabe backcover that Buckerine recommended and since it's kind of see-through, you'd actually be able to see the back of the skin...unlike when I had Oberon or other covers for my kindles.

So has anyone put one on, which one and how do you like it?

The Book Corner / Re: Anyone a Historical Romance Fan?
« on: March 27, 2013, 09:21:12 AM »
I love WW II romances, especially biographical ones.  I'm currently reading "When You Come Home" by Nancy Pitts.  My all-time favorite is "Dear Stranger" by Catherine Kidwell, which unfortunately isn't available on Kindle.

Does anyone have anything to recommend?  They don't necessarily have to be biographical.  Thanks.

I have the kindle app for pc, but my collections aren't there anymore.  I thought they would be saved there or I never would have sold my last kindle.   :(

I currently don't own a kindle.  I only have an iPad mini and don't have access to my collections.  If I were to buy a kindle or paperwhite would my collections be reinstated?  Also, would the powerfast charger work with those kindles?

[Now Logitech have just announced the mini version of their excellent keyboard case, I've got one on preorder. I expect to be writing much more on the mini when that arrives.

Harry, did you get your case yet?  Let us know what you think.
