Let's Talk Kindle! / Amazon & Overdrive severing ties?
« on: August 18, 2015, 11:26:02 AM »
Has anyone hear of this?

I couldn't find the Overdrive link on my local Parish library's website, so I phoned them & found out that since August 1st they no longer offer overdrive ebooks. I was told that they canceled Overdrive since Amazon & Overdrive would be terminating their contract. Does anyone know if this is true?

The librarian said that they now use 3M and it 's so much better and easier to use that Overdrive. I told her is wasn't easier or better for me since I have a Kindle & 3M only offers epubs!  :-[ I'm so disappointed, since I usually read a good many borrowed books.

Luckily, I still have access to Overdrive from a neighboring Parish library, but if Amazon & Overdrive sever ties that will eventually dry up too. I sure hope it's not true! I LOVE my Kindle, but if I can't borrow free books for it any longer, it looses much of it's appeal. And makes Nook & Kobo more appealing.  :(

Writers' Cafe / Premade Sale- $15.00 | Bayou Cover Designs
« on: May 28, 2015, 04:14:00 PM »
The following covers are on sale priced at $15...  :)

Three book series $38!

I also do custom covers, if interested please contact me.

Custom Cover prices:
Single ebook Cover $55
Series ebook covers $50 each
Paperback version (add-on) $30 per cover
Audiobook version (add-on) $20 per cover
Facebook Banner (add-on) $8

Some of you know me as the avid reading lady who enjoys doing cover mock-ups. Since I often don't have anything to work on when the designing mood strikes me, I decided to subscribe to a stock site to have material to work with. To pay for my subscription & support my habit, I'll be offering covers at affordable prices.

I'm thinking of doing sets of 3 matching pre-made covers for series or serials & was wondering if there was enough interest in that. I've done one set so far, but I'm not sure if I should do more.  ??? What do you guys think... is there a demand for pre-made series covers? I'd appreciate any input!  :)

To test the waters, I've just recently opened an Etsy shop. It's pretty empty at the moment & I plan to eventually add more pre-mades & possibly more series. Since kboards is one of my favorite haunts, I'm offering $5 off each cover order with the coupon code: kboards. Bayou Cover Designs

Writers' Cafe / Free ebook covers! (updated 1/30/2014)
« on: January 02, 2014, 07:35:30 PM »
**(OP updated 5/5/2014)**

I originally made up these covers because I enjoy playing around in photoshop and making book covers.  I offered them here free in hopes of drawing attention to KBoards author GA Banks' Zombie Revolution Campaign. Greg's campaign is now over & I still have a few covers available. The offer still stands, they're free to anyone who can use them.

If you'd like a cover, just pm me your info and an emaill address where I can send the finished cover. If there are 2 versions, you can have either or both versions (I won't give the other version to anyone else).

Came across this deal on hip2save. I'll have to stop by my Radio Shack to see if they have any Kindles or accessories on sale... it appears that they're not reduced at all stores.

Let's Talk Kindle! / Problem with 'My Kindle Library" book search!
« on: September 26, 2011, 10:03:46 AM »
Just wondering if I'm the only one with aggravating this problem! When I try searching for a book on Amazon's "Manage Your Kindle" page, nothing shows up most of the time. I've tried searching by the book title, author's first name, last name, full name & nada! The only way I can find the book is to scroll page by page until I find it & I have a lot of pages in my library!

That's another nuisance, I have no idea how many pages my library consists of since they only show 3-4 pages numbers at the bottom... it takes forever to scroll! I sure wish they'd show all the page numbers or at least give you the option to jump to the next 10.

Okay, rant over... I feel a little better now.  ;) Guess I'll have to contact customer care & see what they have to say.

Or any other title by Roberta Gellis!  :)

Just finished Dreamfever, book #4 & I'm dying to read the next installment, don't know how I'll manage to hang on until Dec! How are all you other fever junkies coping without a fever fix? I think KMM must be a little sadistic... what a way to end a book & leave us hanging... pure torture!  :o lol!

Not Quite Kindle / Hate the new library!
« on: January 17, 2010, 10:53:15 AM »
I went to our newest library & couldn't find a darn thing!  ??? This branch has all the fiction books arranged by genre instead of the author. I went armed with my "to-read" list, mainly looking for books not available on kindle or higher priced. It took sooo much longer to locate a book, I had to look in several different sections/gendres for each book. I complained to the librarian about it & told her that it didn't make any sense that an author could have books in several different genres & you had to know the genre in order to find a book.

She told me it was the new thing & that the board wanted to eventually categorize authors to a certain genre.  I told her that didn't make sense either, authors often write books in different genders! She just shrugged & agreed & said that she didn't make the rules. I'll definitely be staying away from that branch, I like the old fashioned way of locating an author & being able to find all their novels in one place! Sure hope the other branches don't follow suit & arrange their novels that way!  :(

Just venting... lol!
