B&N glitch or...?
« on: January 25, 2017, 02:18:38 PM »
Most of my books are gone from Barnes&Noble. I thought they'd come back in a few hours, but still nothing. Is this some kind of a glitch or is something else going on? Are anyone else's books affected or is it just me?  :-\

Are they gone from the storefront or from your dashboard?

ETA: Mine are on my dashboard.

I've seen reports elsewhere that erotica and some romance titles are being filtered unless you're logged into a customer account on B&N. I know my books don't show via search or direct link unless I'm logged in. This is new since last night.

Seriously? They are giving us one more reason to go exclusive? About a 1/3 of mine don't show on my author page. They already made it where you cannot have the look inside if it's in the erotica category.

I didn't know about that. The books that are missing have a warning about sexual content in the blurb, so that could be it.  :(

It's apparently a glitch.

Dear Publisher,

Thank you for contacting NOOK Press Publisher Support.

As you may know, B&N has been working on improving the search effectiveness on our website over the past few months. Early this morning, a small change was put into effect, which inadvertently had a large negative impact on our search results. This change will be backed out tomorrow. We appreciate your patience, and apologize for the inconvenience that this issue may have caused.

Sincerely,
The NOOK Press Business Team

Thanks for posting this! I can't see my missing books even after I log in, so I hope they'll fix it.

Thank you, Dragovian, for having the fortitude to reach out to Nook support. They have been ridiculous in the past and I often don't have the heart to contact them if it looks like something that might play out in a few days.

My books all came back yesterday. I published a new one during the absence of some 23 books being missing, though. Who knows what the heck might untoggle their glitch if they aren't fixing it for everyone yet.

Nothing like testing in production.
