In this book I like Qharin Halfhand, another character I feel like has entire series waiting to be written about him.

Yeah, I wasn't exactly sure at which point it was in the book, but I really liked his conversation with Jon about how he understood the strengths of his men. Leaving the archer up on top of the Fist has got to be real tough decision. To make that, and then for the man to follow through with it knowing he would die...that's a real sense of duty on both sides for them.

I am kind of fascinated with Ser Barristan. We haven't seen much of him, and working my way through the last reading assignment, I suspect I know where he is and it kind of excites me. I wasn't expecting this. I think there is a lot of potential for this character, but before he was let go by the Lannisters, I hadn't given him much thought.

My vote is for (Great)Jon Umber; his loyalty even when the odds are completely against others makes him one I root for constantly. Maybe Barristan Selmy but I think he's too unrealistic and puts people on lofty pedestals, only to be shocked when they fall off.

Barriston is my favorite of the minor characters without a POV (so far?). I love that everyone just knows he's the best knight who may have ever lived but he seems so humble.
