I, personally, like the resolution.  That, and the ability to read in the dark without an additional peripheral.

    But, that's just me.
Some people see things that are and ask, Why?  Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not?  Some people have to go to work and don't have time for all that.

Thanks for asking this theo1358! :)

I was thinking that what you added Hadou
is exactly what is true with regards to improvements!
My husband and I received our Kindle from my mother in law,
and LOVE it! Having stated that, I would love to not have to
have a back-light on to read so my husband doesn't have to
deal with the light. I am holding off on getting the Paperwhite
because I am intrigued by the Kindle Fire HD. Our kids are a
in love with those, and wanted one for Christmas, but will have
to settle for after since it's just sort of an ordering nightmare
to get one, and that with toys is a bit much..lol The debate within
myself over what new Kindle I will get will go on, but for now
    I'll enjoy the original.
Happy Kindle'ing to you both! :)

I have both a K4 and PW. . . the PW is better, for me, because of the touch screen (I didn't think I'd like this as well as I do) and, even more-so, because of the integrated light.

For me, a clip on light was problematic because I'd get a 'spot' glare unless I held it just right.  And it unbalanced the device.  The integrated light on the PW is really pretty amazing. It is NOT back light but rather soft light that spreads across the eInk screen.  Very different to the 'light shining at you' problem many have with screens on tablets.  Of course, those are also adjustable, as to brightness, and will do color.  For reading most books, though, the color isn't an issue and I find the PW screen easier to read than the Fire screen -- though it's not bad.  If all I want to do is read, I definitely pick up the PW

The touch screen just makes navigation much easier and works remarkably well.  Though, if you don't do much in the way of notes and such, the '4-way' navigation of the K4 is satisfactory, if not optimal.

I agree with everybody else. The resolution is much better and the light is just fantastic. The way it lights is so much better, as someone pointed out, than my tablet, at least for reading. I turn the light to about 20 during the day and can't even tell that it's lit. It's just like reading text on a white paper, which I suppose is why they call it Paperwhite.  ;D
